Thanks for more awesome recipes! I love to listen along as I’m doing meal prep for the week. Biggest food fail: my friends and I were making a cheesecake to serve after church when I was in college and someone had accidentally refilled the sugar bin in our shared kitchen with salt. Thank goodness a crumb stuck to the pan and I decided to taste it. Worst thing I’ve ever eaten. So sad though, it was beautiful (the kind baked forever in a water bath) not a crack in the surface, perfectly set. I tried again but have never been able to make one turn out as well as far as texture and looks.

Hello from Southwestern Ontario! Love your videos, and how much fun you have together! Funny you mentioning the Company’s Coming panic roast recipe in this video…. I have used that quite a few times! I throw a couple bouillon powder packets in (as well as a prime rib seasoning mix I created several years ago) for flavour and it’s perfect every time! I adore Jean’s books (I kinda collect them - 27 Practical Gourmet series, and 149 other books & compilations, across all the other series!). Only ever had 1 recipe not turn out, over the 20 years I have been using them! I have not yet done any freezer meal cooking but am collecting recipes to get organized and start. I have a girlfriend interested in joining me and possibly my brother as a second partner, only he lives about a 6 hour drive away. A little more coordination required for that one! Lol 😂

We got to try it yesterday and it's quite good! It needs some tweaking before it's Club-ready but it's a pretty good recipe.

2 ways to not let the tomato eat holes in the aluminum foil pan. 1. Liberally coat the inside of the pan with shortening, butter, bacon fat, lard. Now put the yummy in. 2. Put 2 pieces of parchment paper in the pan in both directions. It acts as a sling and since the sauce is not super runny, it won't actively leak into the pan. Use the tops as the plastic wrap. Bonus you don't have to remember to remove it, unlike the plastic.

Great tips! I remember this happening to my mom when she made rhubarb crisp in a foil pan! Another trick I learned recently with parchment paper is that if you scrunch it up and run it under hot water, it becomes quite malleable and you can put it in whatever shape pan you need and it will form quite well. I like to dry it off first but I'm not even sure that's necessary.

Love watching you guys! Loved Big Little Lies and the series was great with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. Of Liane Moriarity’s books, you should also check out What Alice Forgot and The Husband’s Secret

Christie there's also a show version of Apples Never Fall on Peacock - not sure if you get it in Canada and I haven't seen it - however I really enjoyed Nine Perfect Strangers which aired here in the UK and learned that was also a book my Liane Moriarty which I am now going to read after hearing you loved Apples Never Fall so much! This isn't all I took from this video but I had to comment immediately as I heard!

I think there are a couple of tricks to good Philly Cheese Steak and i think it would translate to the freezer. 1. It has to be the right cut of meat. I am personally not a fan of pot roast "cheesesteaks". There is a pit roast drip beef for sandwiches that i love, but fir Philly Cheese Steak, it has to be shaved beef or hand-sliced thinly sliced steak. Not thicker fajita strips, nothing chunky, and definitely not pot roast. 2. It needs to be cooked in a skillet or in a griddle. Philly Cheesesteak is nit a slow cooker meal. 3. The onion and bell pepper need to be cooked separately from the beef. This is not an all in one dish. The onions and bell pepper need to be cooked first, slowly until soft and caramelized. Then cook the beef, which will be quick because it is shaved or sliced ultra thin. I prefer shaved, because often people don't really slice thinly. Then the cheese goes on top of the Steak. Lid over to melt cheese. Hollow out the hoagie. Build sandwich. The seasonings are simple. Salt, pepoer, and, garlic.

Chuckled at the shredded mozzarella in meatballs. Just this week I had a similar issue with shredded cheese. Very frustrating trying to stuff something with unruly cheese. My solution…roll the cheese like a meatball to make it easier to handle. Still not as easy as cubed…but got me through the dish. Thanks for your stories & honesty!

Sounds like you know exactly what we’re talking about! Rolling it may have helped bind it a bit more. Next time: cubed cheese!

1. Lightly spray foil with non stick spray 2. Cover with sprayed foil 3. Cover with plastic wrap, wrapping tightly around (both directions if you would like) Just a store bought frozen lasagna Danya
@FreezerMeals101
@FreezerMeals101 4 ай бұрын
That's a good idea. I have definitely sprayed by foil before. We like to put the plastic wrap down before the foil because we can often smash it down a bit to touch the food and we find it's more effective for preventing frost/freezer burn. But either way would totally work!

Speaking of audiobooks ... If you have an echo device (by Amazon), it will read almost all Kindle books out loud through the Alexa app. The quality of the voice is pretty good, not that of a monotone robot, but obviously not as good as a regular audio book. I find myself doing this all the time because I always seem to run out of audiobooks I want to listen to at my library.

You two are hilarious! The moment you mentioned you wanted to collect more beef recipes, I wanted to tell you about my success with Garden Taco Rice until I realised it was YOUR recipe! My teenager loves it, although he just tolerates the zucchini and bell pepper and never touches salsa nor salad! But he assures me it is a success because of the black beans over „slimy mushy kidney beans“!😂 Equally well judged by him is my Korean Mince Bulgogi version which is 560 g of mince mixed with a sauce of 50 g of brown sugar (which in my house is muscovado) 60 ml of soy sauce Kikkoman 2 finely grated dried shiitake mushrooms 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes Fry 3 cloves of garlic (grated on the mushroom grater!) 1 TS of ginger ( grated on the same grater! skin on!) and a finely chopped white onion in 1 TS of oil for 3-4 mins add meat, fry 5-8 mins add green of 3 Spring onions, chili flakes, toasted seame seeds serve with white rice and a veg like green beans or brokkoli

Have you guys ever frozen low net carb pasta? Does any of it freeze well that you are aware of? Want to try the ziti but don't want all the carbs. Thanks for the recipes and info you two are a lot of fun to watch.
@FreezerMeals101
@FreezerMeals101 4 ай бұрын
I can't say specifically in reference to low net carb pasta, but we have used gluten-free pasta in the past and it doesn't freeze well. You'd have to experiment with a small recipe and see how it goes before you try a big one like the baked ziti. You may have to make everything else (sauce, etc) and freeze that and just combine it with the cooked pasta on the day of eating. It still puts you ahead of dinner by having that done...

I have a question- Do you note on the label if the meat is already cooked or raw? Like Heat and Serve or Cook Through? And do you know if you can brown your meat and freeze it without cooking it through completely? OK I had 2 questions. Just things I had been wondering. Thank you.
@FreezerMeals101
@FreezerMeals101 4 ай бұрын
Those are both great questions. As most of the way we do things... it depends. If it's frozen meatballs, we know that they're usually pre-cooked. That's more important for individual meals to make that note. But even if our recipes have cooked meat, they tend to have instructions that will bring them up to temp to make them safe to eat - for example some of our meals with cooked, cubed chicken - 30 minutes in the oven and they're still hot enough that if they were uncooked, they would be safe to eat. One Pot Cajun Chicken Pasta is another one - it calls for cooked chicken but we're bringing the dish to a boil and cooking pasta in it for 20 minutes - that chicken is going to be totally cooked if it started out raw. As for question #2 - yes, if you par cook meat, you can finish cooking it later. It's important to keep it in safe temp. zones for as much time as possible - meaning either into the fridge asap and then into the freezer from there.
