Thanks for watching! Let me know in the comments if you like this style of regular life video. I'll be back with knitting content next week but I thought these videos would be a nice in between way to keep connected with y'all. Some ideas for future videos include making a compost pile, baking my sourdough bread, trying new baking recipes, garden prep, and getting baby chicks/prepping their coop. ☺️

If you are going to plant lavender, may I suggest Phenomenal Lavender variety. I have tried several varieties but all seem to mug out in out hot humid NC summers. I have had really good luck with Phenomenal.

Your accent sounds like home. I grew up and still live on the NC coast. The folks of the coast have a distinctive dialect. We live simply and slow.

Oh no 🙈! I am so glad you were able to salvage some. I enjoy your ❤accent.. it’s sweet. 🤗 my husband’s brother lives in England and he has a beautiful accent as well. I dont know, I love 💕 all the different accents. 😊 On another note… I am tempted to begin my own starter… but I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ because I am a terrible baker. Lol😂

Thank you! I love hearing all the different accents as well ❤️ I say give your starter a go! If you Google "Elaine foodbod" it'll take you to a website of this lady who has everything you need to know and her recipe turns out great for me everytime! I plan to do more sourdough videos in the future as my starter gets strong again.

Love that you are including fermentation as part of your podcast. I used to make kefir, I also made yogurt at some point. You can ferment yogurt inside a regular oven, with just the light on, it's enough to keep the yogurt warm. Nowadays, I only make viili, it is much easier to make than yogurt or kefir, plus has more health benefits. I also make kombucha and sauerkraut. Sadly, I cannot eat grains, so sourdough is off-limits.

I've heard that about the oven light and our oven light doesn't work so I haven't been able to try it. It may just be the bulb though so it might be worth it to try to fix 😅 I've never heard of viili, Ill have to look that up! I have made kombucha before and that was fun, I may give it a go again in the future. I've not tried to make sauerkraut but I love the taste 😍 Fermentation is so interesting isn't it!

I love that accent! My family and I live in New Brunswick Canada but we're from Tennessee and Arkansas. We definitely stick out like a sore thumb around here. I know I've lost a little bit of my Tennessee accent, but everyone says when I start talking to people from home it gets really strong. I don't want to lose it at all!!

It's funny how accents can wear off or show back up isn't it? Lol! Nothing wrong with sticking out 😉

If you have a slow cooker, Stephanie O'Dea has a great easy yogurt recipe on her website. A lot less time intensive. I always used her tips of gelatin and 1 tbsp dried milk powder to make it thicker (scroll down on the webpage or it's in her Make It Fast, Cook It Slow cookbook). Enjoyed the video. Hope you have a lovely day.

I love your accent! Doesn’t sound strange at all to me……I’m in GA. Do you live anywhere near the yarn shop, Silver Threads and Golden Needles? I’ve heard that that is a great shop. My father lives in Mountain City so I was thinking I might visit that shop sometime when I’m visiting him.

I’ve been meaning to try making yogurt for a while but we are vegan now so I’m not sure how that would work. I pick up accents. My roommate in college had a slight southern Texas accent and I picked that up. I also pick up other accents if I watch someone a lot in a short period. It fascinates my daughter who studies linguistics as I can say a word differently in the same conversation and don’t even notice.

I did see some people asking on the recipe if it would work with alternate milks and it sounds like with this specific recipe it wouldn't, but I'm curious to know if there are other recipes out there that do! Surely there are since you can buy alternates at the grocery store. Accents are so fun. It's fascinating how just moving 30 minutes away you can hear differences. I've never been great at replicating others even on accident, but mine definitely shows up when I'm around it! Haha
