Hotteok are amazing!! My friend is half Korean, but she was adopted as an infant and never learned much about her heritage. She always jokes that I know more about Korea than she does. I've been introducing her to Korean food. Her son had international day at school and asked to get Korea as his country. My friend called me and asked if I knew any easy Korean recipes, so I ended up going over and teaching them how to make hotteok. They were a huge hit with the kiddos. :)

I just made some using a 큐원 홈메드 mix, and yeah, I found the dough really sticky to work with too, even after trying to knead it with the dough hooks on my hand mixer for like 10 minutes too, I ended up having to use a little extra flour when I was forming them so that they wouldn't stick to my hands. Oh, and if you knead for at least 5 minutes, it should make them stretchy enough to close around the filling
@aeolia804 жыл бұрын

I remember when I was an exchange student in Sweden I used to cook Hoteok everytime we had a party or gatherings. I mean its a chewy bread with honey(like sugar) inside, has kinda predictable taste but nobody cannot hate it. But for some reason a lot of international students who tasted it couldn't properly assume the ingredients. They thought it's chocolate or even peanut butter(whatt)! Everytime I eat hoteok I think of those days.. it's so korean food but it feels so international to me.
@2hearts1seoul4 жыл бұрын
That’s so funny, because when I (Sarah) first tried it, I thought maybe the filling was honey, because of the sweet taste and running texture 😂
@journey1012114 жыл бұрын
@@2hearts1seoul hahah that makes alot more sense, even koreans call the stuffing "honey" well knowing that it's just sugar. Plus, minor hoteok tip: prepare a small bowl of cooking oil and cover your hand with oil before molding a hoteok. That way the mixture wouldn't stick to your hands! I consider myself a pro on this matter😤
