Making HP and CP Old Fashioned Lard Soap

Hello! My name is Shawn Woodell, and I love making homemade natural products. This video shows me making HP (hot process) and CP (cold process) old fashioned lard lye soap! Don't worry! All the lye is used up in the process so there's not any lye left in the soap when it is finished!

For CP lard soap it takes a long time for it to come to trace. I use a whisk and add my fragrance oils after I reach emulsion. That helps my soaping a lot. I enjoy your long tutorial videos. Very entertaining!

Hi Shawn!! I'm so glad I found your youtube channel! Woohoo and good for you. This side by side comparison for hp & cp is SO interesting to me but I can't find the followup video for the cut and comparison. Wondered if you tucked it into one of your Soap Talk videos?? Help!! Apparently I didn't make a comparison video because I can't find one! Sorry! I will see if I have any bars of the CP left! and do a comparison! If not, I may do the process again and make sure to record a cutting video!

Oh yeah, Shawn! Dying to see this. True comparison is exact recipe for both. Do you have tiny molds so you don't have to do full batches? Could you stir up a recipe, mold one as cp then hp the other half? Hmm. Ugh - listen to me bossing you around. Save it for one of those days when your curiosity is as irritating as mine. Eek, I'm bossy.

You can tell in this video that I do not usually do CP soap! I know how, but I don't usually make it!

Can you share which kind of lard to use for soap, there are different parts of pigs they get lard from like leaf lard etc. Do you use leaf lard?

Lundy lard is what I use. It is actually pig lard. Never heard of leaf lard. Very interesting!
