Finally! somebody writing something other than Lo-Fi hip Hop with the sp404 Mk 2. I collect samplers ,and use them to write more aggressive heavy music. I've been searching to find people writing other genres with this awesome machine

@@BlezzBeats I like sampling heavy metal drums, rearranging them and then putting heavy synths on top. Very much the same way a boom bap artist would write.....just with heavy samples. I love metal and industrial,jungle,dubstep... I try to sample the things I like about those genres and mash them all together. Most often it's a mess but every once in awhile I come up with some gold. I enjoy the process even when the final results are less than desirable

Just picked up the 404mk2 and I’m hoping it will end up being my main drum machine for samples next to the Octatrack but I got to say it’s been super frustrating to learn…it doesn’t work like any other gear I’ve used (MPC/maschine/Elektron boxes) the whole thing is incredibly unintuitive. I’ve only had it for 2 days now so I’m going to give it more time before I decide if I’m gonna keep it or not. I want like it, I like the effects and how it’s portable and small and it seems to have all the features I need but I also kinda want to chuck the fucker out the window too

Definitely understand your frustration, it’s not very intuitive at all. Happens easily when you work “backwards” and squeeze features into an existing concept. But you’ll get over that bump if you keep at it. Honestly I haven’t used it much since these videos, just keep coming back to the Maschine for the rapid workflow. I do like the idea of the portability too but in reality that comes in handy like 2-3 times a year.

Thanks! I just sampled Donkey Kong Country 2 and a drumbreak in this one, the classic drumbreaks are essential to old school dnb and jungle. Start with the amen break and go from there, check out my collaborative spotify playlist with breaks. Rhythm source from NI is a great sample pack that has that feel. But I still usually sample the old breakbeats, theres compilation records on vinyl or you can find them anywhere online including youtube.

maschine needs a whole computer attached to it. the 404 is tiny and lightweight and portable. maschine is essentially a daw with built in fx and sounds and synths and drum kits. 404 is a blank canvas. you must provide the sounds. 404 all the way if i had to pick one
