I swear by my rice cooker. It is the most basic of basics with no bells and whistles. Literally a pedal style start button. I think it was only 30 dollars, makes 2 cups of rice in 20 minutes, its been working going on 10 years now, never had an issue and no burned rice. I used to burn and make a lot of mushy rice, and all my Asian friends were telling me, they only use rice cookers, and I was sold. It's one of those things you kind of hate to buy because it only does 'the one thing,' but it does that one thing so darn well!

Yes would love to see a traditional one cooked. I too had a favorite Chinese restaurant. It's name is Shanghai in Rochester NY owned bye William and Julie Sun. Since I ate there I can not eat panda express or similar ones. The food is Amazing. And on Sundays they do a brunch. During brunch the have a constant flow of waiters and waitresses pushing fresh dishes around to table and you take what you want. So many varieties

I grew up with a rice cooker and I see my mom and aunties do all kind of rice cooker recipes 😊 yeah, we don’t just cook rice in it. My favorite hainan chicken and rice hits with different dipping sauce👌🏼 also, when we have leftover rice. We like to freeze it into single servings size into ziplock bags to have for later ( emergency rice for lazy days) . Fun facts: cook rice becomes healthier once frozen because it reduces the carb and calories ✌🏼

Looks delicious! I learned an easy, fail proof method of cooking brown rice from Chef Alton Brown: Preheat the oven to 375°F. On stovetop bring 2 1/2 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of butter or oil, and 1 teaspoon of kosher salt. Pour 1 1/2 cups of brown rice into an eight-inch square casserole dish. Pour boiling water over the rice and cover it tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Then bake in the oven for one hour.

❤good job Aaron! Loved that the kids stayed out of the kitchen while you cooked (and kept sticking hands in repeatedly to taste and try) Do they do this from past issues of not getting or having enough to eat when they were in group homes or other foster homes/bio homes? And yes there were times when my kids tried stealing cookie dough or a fresh out of the oven cookie but not everything I was cooking, hence the question about group homes, etc ❤
@DearLeah-z7t2 ай бұрын
Your comment is unnecessary. Their past "issues" are not your business. Even if they were in the kitchen doing that, how would it have any personal effect on you? You don't live there, do you? This is a cooking channel. Not a channel about the children's personal issues.

I had Japanese roommates in college at UC Santa Barbara him the 90’s. They would all go back to Japan for good (which was sad) and they would give me all of their stuff they couldn’t take. My friend, Tomo, gave me a Zojirushi rice cooker! We are in 2024 and it still works like a champ. Not nearly as high tech as yours, but I guarantee your investment will last you many years of perfect rice. Wash the rice before a few times and it will come out perfectly!
@lindadriessen90272 ай бұрын
Good effort, Aaron. As an EurAsian I always go for traditional recipes first. Once you know the dish and condiments, you can apply substitutes or variations, imo. As you better not shop on an empty stomach, you shouldn't cook either. It impacts your senses. Unless, stating that you're starving or hungry is your opening line? 😅
