Growing up in the South West of England, as I did, there were few coastal towns one could visit that didn't feature a prominent lifeboat station. This diorama is a fine tribute to the men and women of a purely voluntary service that is funded by charitable donations. If you visit the UK and you see an RNLI donation box, do drop in a few quid.

Absolutly beautiful Build an awesome representation of the rough sea. .. No the life boat needs a crew and of course a little weatherin. Even the best maintained vessel do have some "used/worn" looking spots...
@justinmorgan21262 жыл бұрын
Not RNLI boats mate, they are looked after constantly, you'll never find rust or dirt on them. They are the crews babies and are treated as such :-)
@tommy5675 Жыл бұрын
@@justinmorgan2126 Absolutely, The RNLI isn't any sort of chore/job/task it's a passion driven purely by volunteers :) Come the revolution when i rule, These people will be elevated to hero status and i shall reward them with 0% income tax and VAT exemption on everything.....least we can do for them. I'd also create a new class of charity that would allow the RNLI, and others that give life saving service, to charge the costs against the insurance of businesses that they save the life of their employees.

I can't imagine what a sean diorama of you would be if you integrate a boat like the Cutty Sark, Victory or an old sailed one! Do you have ever the idea to do this, with your skill of representing the element (water, wind, ...) it could be terrific! Indeed like all the time I say to you that's the best way to represent the sea one more time. All the best.

Stunning diorama. A couple of questions. If you're not going to do a commentary you should at least do captions so we can follow your methods. What were you using to highlight the ocean foam around the boat? The brand of paint and glue you use is important because I've heard that mixing them can get a reaction between types/brands. The open bridge isn't manned. Would it be manned in such rough weather? (Figures give scale,) if not, shouldn't there be faces in some of the bridge windows? This is a lovely model and you've given me a bunch of ideas, particularly for a deep-hull heavy ocean tug. Thanks!
@chloekaftan2 жыл бұрын
great diorama! some notes for improvement, since its set in an environment of 40 - 60 meter swells its very likely raining hard as well, it would be very convincing if the ship was soaking wet, with water leaving the bow as it juts out of the waves, and water draining out of the deck of the ship, with droplets on both the deck, superstructure, and bridge, especially the glass. if it was in the middle of rescue operations the spotlights wouldn't be facing forward but instead would scan in every direction around the ship. it would also be more convincing to see some warm white led lighting inside of the ship to contrast the dark stormy weather.
@justinmorgan21262 жыл бұрын
UK waters can and do get huge swells without any adverse weather at all. Not even joking. That boat could be going out to rescue people on a warm, clear summers day and experience far worse swells than that. :-)

Why did u paint the windows did u forget u had them on or was it intentional? I understand that you probably have done 100's of models more than I but I always paint before I assemble 1st to eliminate accidents n 2nd for cleaner lines 3rd so I don't need to tape things off. I do however love the absolute art u create with the epoxy.

in those black gloves, you look like the most geekist serial (killer) modeller. What glue do you use? Honestly, a work of beauty. Don't forget to honour your build with a donation to my favourite charity in meantime - or donate it to your local station?
