I've been thinking about this ever since i was a kid(maybe like middle school age(i was born in 84.)) My dad had a pretty beefy Canon camera with a zoom lens/lenses, and all you had to do was push the front button to zoom in, and the rear button to zoom out, both of which were right where your thumb would naturally be, and each sort of curved inward, so that the buttons were set in a sort of shallow 'V' shape with your thumb in the middle. I always thought it'd be cool to have a scope that could be zoomed in and out with similar buttons attatched to the rail near your off hand like a tape switch for a light or something. I imagine it'd be a pretty fragile(and expensive) system though.

The way that's set up, looks like you could use that on some regular sniper scopes on a 7.62x51mm AR10 / SR25 platform as well. That would be helpful when using low-magnification to locate your target at 500+ meters away ... then zooming in for the accurate shot ... all without moving your hand off the handguard and revealing your position.

This is why I run an offset dot. If you get the HOB exactly the same between your dot and lpvo, you can use the dot to find your target, then roll the gun right onto what you are looking at with 10 x power or whatever and be right on target. It is way faster.

I grabbed a Sig Sauer Tango MSR 1-6x when they came out for like $250. They are $279 at Palmetto State Armory right now and they come with everything you need (Cantilever mount, throw lever, scope caps, battery, etc...). I wasn't expecting too much from it but it is outstanding LPVO for the money, which is less than a Romeo/Juliet Optic/Magnifier combo for ~$300. Now Sig Sauer makes a 1-8x and a 1-10x Tango MSR.

I saw this and knew exactly how it worked! That is a neat and quick device to use, imo. I would be concerned about functionality over time, but the wiring could be fixed as needed, just keep up with the equipment and try to keep it as clean as possible. It'd be great to see another video, if you wouldn't mind, as you suggested, to see how durable it is. Admittedly, I generally use certain magnifications 1, 3 or 4 and 6; but, the concept is great, also a good 1st gen attempt, as you said! I see an upgrade, already...

It's a neat idea, for sure. But I'm not a race gunner. Nor am I some kind of operator. Let's be honest, If I ever find myself in a situation where I might have a need to rapidly bounce between ranges, I'm probably going to have a really, really bad day. Good chance it may be my last day. Probably better off finding someplace else to be in a big damn hurry. But I do like LPVOs. I'd love to use red dots. Oh Lord, would I ever. But with the astigmatism I have, even the finest dot just looks like a big spikey mess. But it is a really neat idea. And REALLY appreciate the one size fits all setup that doesn't require a proprietary scope or whatnot. Quite a cool bit of kit.

Feels like it would be better for the magnified setting to be when you hand is farther out on the forend. More stable - less wiggle when magnified. Pull it in - less stable but you are focused closer where it matters less. However maybe that motion feels counterintuitive. Super neat concept.

That might just be how he prefers it or how he set it up during install. Almost positive you can just change the wire lengths and it'll change which positions the hand is at vs magnification.
@gavincline209
@gavincline209 6 ай бұрын
Was gonna throw that out there. Every lpvo runs different directions for magnification, so would setting it up “backwards” for the direction you have make it that way? Where zoomed out is hand forward. I’d bet so probably. But also like said above, human intuitiveness is a thing. Brain thinks “bring the image in closer”, and correlates that to bringing in your hand closer. Like your hand is physically doing the work. It’s hard to overcome those sort of things, mentally and takes alot of practice to do so without real thought. i.e… a high stress situation.
@lucasblanchard47
@lucasblanchard47 6 ай бұрын
@@gavincline209 that’s true. I bet you could just swap the wire connectors or start with the slider and optic in whichever position you prefer and rig it up to zoom either way.

huge fan of it, I've heard plenty of people say they are just afraid of "another thing to go wrong" but if the wire breaks you can always manually adjust the optic anyways. That is heavier than my springfield M14 with a wood stock, loaded with a 3x16 scope. The m249 I carried was 17-18lbs with an elcan specter scope.. That Sig Spear is stupid heavy for a modern battle rifle, and far from a good modern fighting rifle.. Unless your in amazing shape and 185-230lb beast in perfect condition, you aren't gonna use that especially when full spare mags are 1.5lbs each.. I seen something like this before, is this the same company? They were having durability issues. I can see an improvement for the cable mounting and interfacing, rather than having the cut ends at the scope. Could begin to fray and be an injury hazard. Having the ends be under the mount/grip area, and using a ball ferrule type securing interface on the scope adjuster mount. Ball ferrules and a corresponding slot, are a common method of preventing slipping on a rotating control surface for cables like this.

Like to see a shutter of some sort to seal off the operating areas of the slider. I am think a gear driven system would be better but it’s hard to achieve the mechanical advantage necessary to rotate the power lever. It’s hard to improve upon a product this innovative unless they sell well. Hopefully they can sustain long enough to bring something closer to “bulletproof” than it currently is. Saw some drunks with one and of course the idiots broke it. I hope we see some more improvements in time rather than then trying to offer a model for every rifle and scope under the ☀️ prior to doing so.

Interesting and innovative product. My money will not be buying one. Best of luck to anyone who does buy one.

It wasn’t very long ago that LPVO scopes were used primarily for big game rifles or dangerous game rifles for African safaris. They didn’t cost anywhere close to what these multi thousand dollar ones cost today. In fact they were only around $300-$500 and these were the top tier brands.

Seems "nifty" - not bad, kind of "neat-o" but is it all that practical? Not in my opinion. You still have to adjust your shooting grip to change your zoom, and if you have accessories set up with a specific index point in mind, it really won't work with this. I'll stick to LPVO + offset red dot for fast transitions.

Great idea but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be super reliable.. I’ve seen a few videos of guys breaking them

Is it really the same gun when it's in a different calibre? Maybe it took the market to tell the people "Hey the 9mm is going to be the best calibre for most if not all shooters no matter age or disability, That was when Glock began with the different generations. How many generations have they made on the .45 line of pistols?

My question is this; Who can justify several hundred dollars for a magnification switch that's 2 second faster?

Wow i just spent 2400$ on ACOG with red dot on top. If I had known about this I would’ve got the LPVO literally having to take hand off gun and adjust scope is what turned me off to it too.

Antimatter scopes are cool, but, my body double, in the Navy, whom I've met by the way, has a patent for A reality distorting particle beam, which uses antimatter to destroy, and create. They can be antimatter weapons, or welding tools, on a different setting. I also have a patent through him for the TR3B "Black Manta," and other associated technologies that comprise it. Of course, I also custom-make vehicles, and have things I probably haven't had patented yet, that are being researched, and when patented, and understood to be safe, they'll be at wal-mart someday. They still sell guns at Walmart, right? And electric scooters?
