At MOST they'll send the same kind of letter to Doug as Doug's had Frank send other businesses, and at that point obviously Doug's going to decide the juice isn't worth the squeeze and move on to another idea. This is largely just exploring a concept of more intricate custom work; it's not like they're going to told this into their general lineup. Also, not for nothing, but as the table's design shapes up and becomes clearer, a lot of these people ripping on the idea are going to come around, just like they did on the mugs.

@Morcarag4 ай бұрын
Yeah, as presented on Wyrmlife it certainly comes off as Doug's pet project. I can't imagine they'll actually try to sell this specifically as a line. Legal issues aside there just can't be that big a market for people willing to drop $20,000+ on a game table with such specific theming. I'm sure there are a few, and I guess if the tables are priced high enough they make profit on each one and don't care about operating at scale. The play appears to be more of "get a lot of interest / eyeballs by using an attention grabbing IP" and then introduce those eyeballs to Wyrmwood as a company and let that audience know we exist and can do high end work. Then the assumption being that some percent of those new eyeballs convert into general sales (though likely not sales of the Mario table specifically). The other assumptions being that the audience attracted by "high end Mario wood table" is one that doesn't already know much or anything about Wyrmwood's offerings and is interested in them.
@twostep86494 ай бұрын
There is no 'legal grey area' here. They're directly copying an IP, even using parts of that IP as a template. This project is entirely unmarketable. There is no possible way they could ever legally sell a 'themed' project like this.
