The character Bev was the most terrifying, the way she used the ‘word’ to justify EVERYTHING. The way this mirrors religion and its leaders is a thousands times scarier than a Vampire. Too real - didn’t shed a tear when the sun rose on her.

The real motive behind this movie is an attack on the Catholic Church (CC), the notion of God and religion. It is quite obvious. The character of Bev symbolizes this whole concept. Many people believe that the Catholic Church is the Vatican which in fact is not. Jesus Christ is the head of the Catholic Church and the Vatican 'administers' what Christ bestowed on the twelve apostles. Since the CC is made up of people too, it has an inclination to good and evil. It is a mixed bunch. One famous writer said, "There is enough good in the CC to go to heaven and enough evil to go to hell." This reality is in all churches around the world, Orthodox and Protestant. We hear a lot of scandals within the CC because it is the only church in the world that opposes abortion, divorce etc. and many people do not like 'her voice'.

Bev represented everything Jesus would have hated. The piousness, self indulgent and narcissistic way she honors herself as Gods mouth piece. She is everything of what’s wrong with religion on this earth and why it’s so dangerous. I loved watching her burn. I think she had a moment of clarity too right before when she realized what she had become and how scared she was of her judgement
@TOTAL457
@TOTAL457 3 жыл бұрын
@@megan873 I agree with you about Bev but what admire is that she so loved her church she was willing to do everything to save face. But some of Bev's militant behaviour can be found in me and you. What do I mean? If a family member of yours is caught doing something bad, your first instinct is to protect him/her no matter what. You have to protect your family's reputation. Well, Bev did the same and before we condemn other people, we have to take a good look to ourselves. The important thing is that Jesus loved Bev so much that He suffered a terrible death for her salvation and for us SINNERS.

That was just a normal old-school vampire, it checks all of the boxes (bat-like creature, uncontrollable thirst for blood, can turn others into the same beast, heals and rejuvenates the victims that turn). This show is so great, they portrayed the Muslim character (sheriff) respectfully. I LOVE IT. Can't wait to see his project in the future. I'm a fan from hunting hill house, bly manor to THIS

at this point, Mike Flanagan's work is an homage to what "horror" literally means in Latin: "the shivering."

There is so much enlightenment about death, life and spirituality going on in this amazing series. I fear that most people will simply view it as dialogue and not fully appreciated the deeper meanings. Erin Greene's final monologue on the nature of existence and the fact that only the body dies but the soul is eternal, is the truth about what and who we really are. We have been lied to about everything.

I’m in my teens and I’ve been raised Christian my whole life. I’m struggling with doubts not so much to do with my “faith”, but with churches and the people who run them. I’m never satisfied with how my church answers my genuine curious questions about the Bible and the Christian faith in general because they almost always seem such hollow and surface level responses. Yet, here I am, having finished this masterpiece of a show and I feel like my faith has been strengthened?? If that even makes any sense.
