I find that young people living in crappy studio apartments pay better than the boomer generation living in mansions. At least that’s the experience I’ve had here in Boston. Some people are not willing to give a good tip no matter how long they make you wait or how much work you put in to getting them the best order. Just because they can afford it doesn’t mean they’ll be kind enough to give it to you. I got a $4 tip in large order and drove 20 minutes and had to wait another 10 minute for the customer to get to the door. This was a mansion btw.

Been watching alot of instacart videos and this video definitely gives some of the best advice. With that said, $350 a day is not realistic except for maybe California and even that's a stretch. I think for the majority of people doing this full time $100+ a day is a solid goal. I try to make at least $100 a day but factor in gas, taxes, and maintenance so really try to bring in $120-$130 a day.

Dope tip on waiting to put the ties on produce until ur in line. Another thing i jus started doing is if i see a bunch of produce items, i grab a bunch of the plastic produce bags and get all of them opened up, put them in the cart and THEN start grabbing produce. I am kinda new to this but I want to give you few tips I have learned from my shopping experience,dont pick order with lot of meat in it,because if customer requests 5lb beef,it will take lot of time to find what customer requests.Remember every minute of your time is money.And if there are lot of produce items,pick that one.They are easy to find and usually employee is in the produce section if you need help with something to find.And deli items can be pain in the AZ to find.if you can find order without deli items,pick that one.And also pick order with less items even if it pays less.My favorite store to shop is Costco or bj.Even though store is big,lot if items can be easily found..These are just few tips that can help you to shop faster.Remember every minute of your time is money,and your goal is to complete order soon as possible.If you are new like me,dont pick big orders,pick order with less items until you learn the store where items are.And get the orders from costco,bj and target.Target is good,because there are few grocery aisles and you can finish your shopping faster.

Interesting video. As an Instacart customer, I'm glad to see you can make money doing this service. I'd probably be doing it myself if I had a car. Good advice to Shoppers about getting meat and frozen stuff last - this is one of my pet peeves, seeing my shopper grab frozen stuff like ice-cream first. One frustrating thing I see with Instacart and others like UberEats, and Skip the Dishes - they follow the gps without looking at any written directions on the order. StD's almost always drives into the church parking lot next door to me, then they have to phone me because they can't find me. Or, if they do get the correct driveway, they drive right past the front door where I'm waiting for them, (with a shopping cart), and drive into our back parking lot. One other thing - Shoppers: please check the Expiration dates and grab the freshest available. I recently got an item that was 6 months past it's date, and quite a bit of dairy & bread that only has a few days left. On my last delivery, as I emptied the bags, I found a 3X5 card with a note from my shopper thanking me for the order. I was very touched by this, and I still have the card. Well done!
@ReezyResells4 жыл бұрын
The thank you card idea is very genius unfortunately the location thing is a function of the way the apps utilize the mapping systems in the phone they all need to add a feature for customers that continually have problems with drivers not being able to find them that would supersede the pin location or force the pin to your actual location. None of the apps do this but as a customer you should be able to see the point on the map where the driver is going to and not just put your address in and hope the mapping system has the pain in the right place
@Volcomsd14 жыл бұрын
I just started today, quick question. For example, I have an Albertsons next door to my house and the app wants to route me 10 miles away to another Albertsons, then drop off to the customer a few miles from my current location. Can I go to the Albertsons by my house or do I have to go to the one in the app?
@CarlosfVilchez4 жыл бұрын
Jason sometimes you can go to a different Albertsons, but beware, because not all stores are linked with instacart. That being said, one way to find out if that store works with instacart is if you see them pop up on your app on a different order

I've been doing instacart since July of 2019. It's a really good concept but recently I notice that they are not paying people right for the number of items and driving. For example, I was looking through the batch list and notice a batch where there were 3 full-service orders all in one and 25 miles of driving to deliver the groceries to 3 different places and Instacart only charge 21 dollars. That is very little at paying especially when you have to shop for 3 people, ring it up, bag it up, and you have to drive 25 miles to deliver the groceries to 3 different houses. In this pandemic, they should pay more especially in Multi order batches. I had a batch where the customer had 300 ITEMS and it was a 14-mile drive. Her whole total came out to 1032 and I had 3 carts full of groceries. Instacart only charged me 50 dollars for the amount of heavy lifting, bagging the order, and also bringing all those groceries by myself to their door. The amount is too little for the amount of work we are doing in this pandemic. It's a good money maker but you are getting more customers than usual so I understand multi-order batches and big batches coming through but you need to pay right for the amount of mileage you need to drive and the number of items there is.
@ReezyResells4 жыл бұрын
Depends on your area. It’s supply and demand of the drivers. I’ve never driven more than 4 miles to deliver, nor would I ever accept that much driving

been doing instacart for awhile (nashville,TN) they changed their pay structure used to be around .75-.80 cents an item but they keep reducing the pay to around .40-.50 cents an item and now offering plans like ( 150$+ for 15 orders) or even more recently (150$ for 18 orders) within a week time span. Also with everything in chaos a lot of the stores lack some of these items so every item you dont pick up is reduced from your payout. which should be but hoping you were going to make 15-20$ than walk away with maybe 12-13 for an hours work kinda sucks. They even started hiding the peak pay symbol so people dont try to grab them first. The only ones I do are the heavy pay or maybe satuday-sunday night where theres maybe 1 or 2 good orders and walk away on a weekend with 40$ at most

I just want everyone to know that these earnings are IN NO WAY indicative of what you will actually make. Idk if maybe other regions pay a lot more than here, but where I live, batches pay between $10-20 each. And you really can't get one done in much less than an hour.
@ReezyResells4 жыл бұрын
Pay does vary greatly by area as it’s based on supply of drivers and demand of orders. Also this was filmed back in March when Covid first started and grocery delivery was booming. Thanks for the comment. Nowadays (at least in my area) DoorDash pays more
@xRogerThat013x3 жыл бұрын
It's definitely region based! I typically make $25 to $35 per order. Sometimes I'll make like $50 or so if I feel like doing a larger order. Bigger orders take me about 1 to 1.5 hours and smaller ones take me about 25 mins.

@Toni Stewart good eye.I am in Atlanta and rarely see large orders because they disappear quickly. That is wise you noticed the number of items before accepting. Most shoppers look at the dollar amount and dont realize the large number of items will keep them in the store for a long time.

I watch her during the day while my fiancee works. Trying to decide if i should so some after she gets home and on her days off or just take my daughter and make runs in the morning til evening? You have any suggestions on that please ?

Very good video! You covered a lot of bases. My biggest Instacart lifesaver has been my collapsible wagon! This saves me so much time and strain by carting up to the door in one trip. My other tip is one thing he mentioned: The reusable message to the customer. I save this message in my notes app and copy it, accept the order and then go straight to messages and past the text changing the name to the current customer. I want us all to succeed so I’m sharing the message here: Hello Yolanda! 🛒 My name is Troy and I have just started shopping for you. My goal is to provide you with excellent service! Please let me know if you have any questions, if you would like to add anything to your order, or anything else I can help you with. I’ve shopped for hundreds of others and I’m happy for the opportunity to be shopping for you. 🙂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to provide you with a 5-Star experience today! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I will also keep you informed as I shop as to what is not available. That is what I send every single time and after 3 years shopping with Instacart I’ve never received less than a 5 Star review. I also concentrate more on being correct then fast. I want to shop quickly but more importantly I want the customer to be happy with the products I deliver. Thanks again for the great video!!! Troy in SoCal

Troy, what kind of collapsible wagon would you recommend?
@mpearson3244 жыл бұрын
@S.B Go to Walmart and get the wagon in the camping aisle. It runs $50.00 +. Worth every penny. Also I get stickers from the Dollar tree Store to use when I have 2 or more orders, especially when the are large. Easier to load up at check out. Always double check.

Another trick for people out there is that if you have an iphone you can replace text like these with pre-text. If you type cart1 on your text, it will pop the entire message for you "Hello Yolanda! 🛒 My name is Troy and I have just started shopping for you. My goal is to provide you with excellent service!..." I also do that for my airbnb guests responses

I like ordering from Instacart because the shopper will let me know when something is out and ask about substitutions, unlike Walmart pickup that will just leave stuff out if it’s out of stock.

I didn't see you texting the customer that they were out of that item; plus seeing the substitution screen; but great points and side showing screen of app when doing it; more detail on perishables and how Instacart keeps track to say which is best to do first for them.
@ReezyResells4 жыл бұрын
Contacting the customer is for sure more likely to get better subs, but they have the option to specify subs if they want, and some prefer not to be contacted. Always get the cold stuff last, try to pick produce that you would pick for yourself

Great video. I was just wondering how the Instacart shoppers got paid, how much and how the whole system works. We just signed up for Instacart (customer membership) used it for the first time yesterday. My wife wanted to do it even though I still prefer to go to the grocery store myself. I'm pretty picky when getting meat, chicken, pork, etc so I went to the store myself yesterday just to get those few items I'm picky about and Instacart delivered the rest. It was what looked like a sister-sister team (two girls) and they got the order here within an hour and a half of placing the order. It was about $200 in groceries, Instacart prices of course, and we tipped the girls 15%. I would imagine a team of two can do the shopping much quicker leaving more time in the day for extra deliveries. I'm glad people are able to make a decent living in these tough times.

Please make more Instacart videos. I just started on Wednesday, ended the day on $127.49. My area is very busy but lots of shoppers as soon as I try to click on a batch it's gone. It was a little scary..lol..but I am learning the ways. I still have my full time job so I can only do this on my off days but I definitely appreciate the extra income. Thanks for sharing.
