Great video dude! I've always wanted to make a game and seeing others do it solo inspires me. You asked if there should be names for each house or location. I don't see why not. You're not going for hyper realism so I think having names for locations would be a good idea. Especially when you pull up a map. Maybe once the location is explored, you'll see the name and text come across the screen. I've always liked that in video games. It makes it feel like I'm progressing.
@AndrzejGieraltCreative3 ай бұрын
Hey thanks a ton!! I see where you're coming from but, like I said, I'm going for verisimilitude so, if draugr and goblins and stuff are waking up, that doesn't necessarily mean that now other parts of history, like taverns and stuff, should change.

just as you said about making your own dream game it could be someone else dream game too, the artstyle of your game should be of your taste just like the game itself. i think the cellshading on realistic assets looks good, of course you can adjust the colors even more to fit in a specific palette

Your “detractor” is wrong in saying that this is like every other open world game (and is also a hypocrite for saying you should take notes on other open world games, because that’d just make it more similar). Your idea for a mechanic where players wake up elsewhere when defeated is interesting (it’s what jumped out at me the most during this video, since it was a central mechanic that seems fun), so I would recommend leaning into it where possible; unique mechanics are best placed center stage, just look at the Portal games (teleporting), Minecraft (mining and crafting/building literally everything), Titanfall (the physics) or other titles. Regardless, it’d probably be wise to lean into that mechanic story wise. The respawn shouldn’t just be “great, I have to retrace my steps”, it should be “how do I escape captivity”, or “how do I deal with these wounds/scars”. Just food for thought. Good luck in the development.
@AndrzejGieraltCreative3 ай бұрын
Thank you! I'm glad you like the idea - I'm pretty excited about it, so, we'll see how it ends up going once I have more quests/dungeons built out and the opportunity actually arises for the player to get into those kinds of situations.

@@AndrzejGieraltCreative I’m giving a advice from a place of love friend, I had a idea of making a road fighter game (nes), I thought I will take max 3 months and it’s done, now I’m 2years and still on development, the beta is already on epic games, my advice is, if you think you will take 6 months to do, it’s probably 3 years, so if you imagine your game will take 2 years, probably it will take you 10+ years to do, in my opinion it’s not worth it, dream big, but dream with your feet on the ground, just a advice you don’t need to follow it, good luck friend
