This is great, i want to do exactly the same. I only don't understand one of your steps. Why do you halve the whistle, put the block out and then weld it together again? And then put the block back in?
@danielkarsten15799 ай бұрын
What is that black square thing you made a hole through at 2:52 that you used to hammer that block/stick of wood through to create that cylinder shape that somehow fit perfectly snug into the fipple end? Is the black square sharpened to make the hammering easier or did you just have to hit it hard for a long time till it’s through? By the way, what’s the part called that goes into the fipple end? Great playing and excellent craftsmanship! Yahuah bless! 🙂

How do you make the whistle part work? I have not been able to make a functioning one yet
@patrickbacher78814 ай бұрын
It is about the fipple and the airway alignment. You file the fipple to a sharpish but not too sharp edge and then you make sure that the wind way is like 80% above the hole like 20% below. The air should blow through to the fipple.
@patrickbacher78814 ай бұрын
At the wood insert step slowly lower the hole over and over until it sounds right.

Check out this resource music.bracker.uk/Music/Whistle-Calculator.html Just keep in mind for transverse flutes you have to input your own dimensions because for some reason it uses the same formula as for the fipple

TOXIC?
@RenVasTerul10 ай бұрын
I always coated them in a thic layer of natural lacquer :) But yes, it's a slight issue, so now I just use stainless steel for the moutpiece. However copper's toxic properties are somewhat misunderstood. It's a cumulative issue, related to the oxidized layer of copper (precisely the green one), so as long as you don't have green layer on your copper you're fine :) Its good to remember that copper is still has good anti-bacterial properties and is often used for tap water piping as well as drinking water bottles :)

@RenVasTerul3 жыл бұрын
Well it is NOT a tutorial/diy video, it's just to showcase the process. Someone who's already taken steps to figure out how to make flutes might find useful ideas here, just by observation. What would be the idea of making instruments for sale and at the same time teaching everyone how to do it by themselves? Makes no point (sadly) in a money-driven world. As much as I would love to share every thought behind it, quite simply I cannot afford it.
@hossplay1003 жыл бұрын
@@RenVasTerul I agree with the previous comment. Beautiful flute. Skillful flute makers have a waiting list. So what do they care if some people make one themself. Also, banging on a guitar was a distraction. Waste of time.
