This is true to a degree. What we do would have been less unusual 100 years ago, but it would still have been top end, expensive stuff. The wallet we based the design of this one on was machine stitched and it was made in the 50s and came from somewhere smart in London so even then speed of production was a major factor, probably along with a skill shortage caused by the wars.

I don't dig leather for uses like this (maybe for warmth and what uses the original animal uses its hide for), but when things are hand-crafted, it's a beautiful process. Not only is a product coming into existence, but someone, a person, a conscious, thinking being, paid very close attention to the expectations of the product, and ensured that the beauty of whatever it is is exceeding to those who receive it.

Equus Leather well, they used to and may still, mucklucks are traditionally seal skin with sinew sown waterproof seamed boots, they aren't really moccasins, although the terms may have a common etymology. The Eskimo and Innuit made them, I hope some still do. Sad really. Nevertheless, do not despair, a Renaissance returns. Thanks for the reply. All the best.

@@rico9163 But it's not always the rich. Sometimes the poor scrounge and save for special occasions; ever read Gift of the Magi? Sometimes people splurge for a costume or a gift or just because they want something cool or useful or a talking point or to support an artisan. Sometimes the rich flaunt. There is an overall effect of money being tossed around. It determines what products are available and who owns what item(s). The money traded by the rich then go into the hands of those who managed and/ or created the products, with a tax to the government that (ideally) protects the practice(s). Art SF Blog it's to push you to go and put your own hands on one. Sadly, after buying it you won't have any money to put in it!

Hello from Boston! Thank you for your beautiful videos, you are an artist. Your videos were the start of my inspiration to take up leather-craft and I will be starting my own small business soon!

i have exam tommorow and I'm watching a semi bald man making leather wallet
@richardichard42376 жыл бұрын
I think it's fair to say he's bald, calling him semi-bald is like calling a corpse " semi-dead "....

I have a friend who works at McDonald's and he buys shit like this. He happens to really enjoy some of life's finer things. He's single, lives in the somewhat nicer apartments in my area. His apartment is very modern looking and if you had to guess by the way he dresses, the brands he wears, where he lives, and all that you'd assume he had some big wig corporate job and not McDonald's. The funny thing is I know people are gonna call bull shit but in reality, if you're smart, you'll know that you don't have to be rich to have nice things. Just work hard, spend wisely, make sacrifices, save what you can when you can and most importantly don't pay any attention to Joe shmo up the road who always has the latest and greatest because then you'll compete and then when you finally do make that purchase on whatever it is you've been saving for it won't feel as good as it should because I can almost guarantee that mr shmo has already upgraded and now you're competing again. Moral of my statement is pay no attention to anyone else and do what makes you happy. For most people they are there own biggest downfall.

Even with the music this is the most relaxing thing I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying
@marygrinter48785 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The music is fine but dominates the sound. The music needs to be more subtle and the sounds of the craftsmanship turned up.

No. ASMR is annoying. Just like the people who watch the videos.

Some people say "why would anyone spend so much money on something which can be bought anywhere for cheaper and functions exactly the same" It's a way of showing the person your appreciation of their talent and craftsmanship, also indicating their worth compared to the other products. The materials may not be worth the price you pay, but the skill is where the value sits.

Plus, it will last much, much longer than something cheaper. Most likely a few generations.
