I saw that 100% miss at 2:49 . Seems Xcom is still doing what Xcom loves to do.

For those of you who don't know, pre-vis footage is not game footage, it is 3D animation designed to look like what the finished game will hopefully be, created early in development to see how the intended features flow, and to guide the development team towards their goal. So while the devs want the ranger to dive through the window in an action movie style when targeted by overwatch, that doesn't mean that they were able to make that feature work. Just make sure you temper your expectations, don't confuse pre-vis footage with real footage.

Jiafei It's also not a port of a console game. Firaxis specifically stated they are making this a PC exclusive in order to do things that wouldn't be possible on consoles.

Sykomyke So... u are willing to accept any game in any bad state? I have faith in Firaxis since I own most of the civilization and their DLC, Beyond Earth, Starships, and, of course, XCOM (on the PC that I beat on Impossible Ironman). However, we live in an age where more and more games are broken and not complete. I have a bad taste in my mouth and that comes from game companies and developers who are not making good games - like Arkham Knight. Moving past the PC version... Arkham Knight game is not even a true BATMAN game. Batman does NOT use guns or kills people but his Batmobile is lethal - it runs over people at high speeds, crushes cars, has rockets, electrocutes anyone that touches it (including people he runs over), and has both a Vulcan MG gun and a 60mm cannon. Sure there are comics that he has similar weapons on vehicles, but it was in a different situation and enemy.... not unarmed people walking on the streets (criminals or not). Bottom line, i am sick and tired of broken games.

BoydofZINJ the logic yo. How is this not a true batman game? In the movie and comics batman doens't drive around in a vehicle? It's the player's problem if he/she runs over people. The guns are nonlethal against thugs and those are automated drones. This game runs perfectly on the consoles, sure it's a broken pc port. But is it a broken game, the answer is no.

BoydofZINJ​​ Firaxis has all ways been incredibly respectful of the PC platform they are also responsible for the AAA PC franchise Civilization. I should point out to Jiafei​ that exclusives have had poor launches as well. Total War: Rome 2 & SimCity (PC exclusives), Master Chief Collection (Xbox One exclusive) and DriveClub (PS4 exclusive) all had atrocious launches! Bloodborne was horribly optimized for PS4; with frame rates plummeting to the low 20s! They only had platform to optimize for!

My goodness! I love the Run & Crash through the glass and the enemy soldier running away from the Grenade animation! hope you don't have just 1 set of this animation though. :D can't wait to grab a copy.

The one thing the first game was missing was procedural maps. Glad to see they included them this time :) This could be strategy game of the decade.

Snapshot Games OMG! It is Julian Gollop! I never thought I would see a comment from the creator of XCOM in here. Great work, a true masterpiece. XCOM almost fades away buried in the graveyard of failed sequels as Dungeon Keepers, but look at it now. Firaxis bringed the franchise back to life.

Snapshot Games Absolutely love XCOM and TFTD (apart from its bugs). Absolutely hate these. And UFO:xxx series. They are all something completely different. It would be cool to see true XCOM reborn, like Fallout did with Wasteland 2. I also own a copy of F3/FNV, but they are totally different beasts, similar to these. Question - why do you guys started using Gorky 17-style movement, instead of what seen in original Xcom/Jagged Alliance 2(and refined in 1.13)?

Majou Nexian Not really. Sid Meier is one of the creators of XCOM too. Firaxis was the most fitting company for remaking the game with today standards, and the proof of that is it's incredible comercial success.

It's not like I'm asking that they don't focus on the PC. If they want to wait and see how well the game will sell on the PC, I'm fine with that. Plus, one of the developers said he wouldn't rule out consoles. If you and others who say that the game will be successful on PC are true, than it means they'll have the resources to some extent to port to the consoles.

biggydx Just because something is successful on the pc does not mean it will be a success on the consoles or even worth them doing. Sales for the previous xcom were pitiful on consoles, so it's probably a risk they are not interested in. I'd like for you guys to get one but I can't see it happening

***** No they better focus on PC till it comes out, then once that's stable they should consider making a console version because they haven't ruled it out. It doesn't "belong" on a PC a decent chunk of the Xcom series has been on console, and if sales do well then at least a digital release would be a good idea. The very fact that so many are upset is a testament to interest in a console version.

***** Alas it's a vocal minority there were around 5% (estimated) of the sales on console that there were on pc. It's great that those who love it on console love it so dearly but that's not enough of a target audience for them to peg a real financial risk on. You need the PC sales to be so staggeringly good that they make enough money to support a console release financially even if it flops hard.

I would like to see features discussed that the fans of the original X-Com have been asking for ever since a remake was announced: Base building! Can we finally have more than one base again, please, and what about base defenses and Alien counter attacks on them? This was one of the coolest feature of the original game and seems to get swept under the rug time and time again. Sure, the implementation of melee is nice, but how was that a major focus for the developtment? X-Com was never about swinging a machete around. It was about fighting the Alien threat on a global level, researching their technology and adapting it for your fight against them.

***** Well, it depends. The founding history of X-Com is as follows: When earth discovered that it was under threat from an alien force, all major governments came together and decided to create a special task force with the mandate to investigate and combat it. In order to do so efficiently (there was no time for being bogged down with bureaucracy) X-Com was granted complete autonomy. In the original X-Com you could have up to eight bases at key locations of your chosing, all over the globe. Since X-Com operated independently and was free from any Government control, there is a good chance that the location of at least some of those bases have not been betrayed. Any of those bases could play a vital role in starting and supporting an underground resistance effort that can actually stretch over the whole planet.. In case of the remake, there was only one base, but the operation was still a global effort. You could make an argument that, when fighting a guerillia war, having multiple bases is even more vital, so that the whole resistance can not be decapitated with one blow. You will probably have many small resistance cells hidden all over the world; some of which will be larger than others.

Thing is, though. If you haven't seen the trailers and interviews before this one, X-COM is now a resistance force. They cannot risk having a permanent base anymore, so I would say it's unlikely that we would see base building again. Instead we get a badass repurposed alien ship mobile base, which can be also awesome in it's own right.

I loved the first one, but a thing that really annoyed me were the sometimes really unrealistic odds of hitting. For example a guy stands directly in front of you and you go full storm trooper on him. The random factor is ok but sometimes it is just ridiculous!

Aaron Terell theres actually a video on the internet where there was a thin man literally 3 feet away from a rookie and he missed with a 90 percent chance and the rookie hits with a 40 and kills it lol

Aaron Terell Aside from how goofy those point blank shots looked, there were actually some math to them. Innate chances to hit (aim) + Range bonuses - target's defense. Some times you calculate and get a guaranteed a 100%, sometimes you couldn't, either because your troops weren't good enough or the enemy had better defense. I think something that could be improved is the animation for these misses at point blank: instead of our soldier aiming for the sky when he needs to miss due to a bad roll, have him aim partially correctly and the alien dodging on the place.

Any recommendation and price of a graphic card to run fine with this? surprisingly I have a 9800gt (45$) and ran xcom enemy within on high settings with no trouble/lag but I feel I need to upgrade for this one

Yea I think the yellow blood is cause they've been genetically altered by the aliens to be more combat-effective, more endurance, obedience ETC. I personally think they're the reason that the humans are mysteriously diss appearing, or at least one of the reasons. I think they're all people who applied for alien gene therapy, which isn't a great idea on their part. Anyway, to lower suspicions the aliens prbly only convert 1 in every say 10 humans that apply into ADVENT troops.

I think this a huge mistake if this doesn't come to console!! Firaxis you widened your reach with enemy unknown coming to console! Don't lock out a bunch of your fans by hiding it away on PC. I absolutely love this game and would have never figured that out if they didn't place it on console. As much as I love these games there is no way I am going to pay thousands of dollars for a gaming PC just to play it.

László Simon somehow I'm a pesant because I prefer to play my games on consoles, I'm pretty sure I'm not a pesant seeing as I own both next gen, well this gen consoles, I grant you this, pc's can be made very powerful for gaming but the number and variety of games that come out on consoles I prefer, if I was a pc gamer I wouldn't be able to play Arkham Knight very well. I've got a pretty good laptop but I mainly use it for work and other things. If the specs are high enough I may have to get xcom 2 for it as I've been a fan of the series since the original came out
