being an over-the-road truck driver is no easy task! So to help us feel a little more like home we have turned our semi truck into a micro tiny house. I say micro tiny house because it's beyond tiny. Take a look into how we have our truck setup to meet most of our essential needs. See how we have our truckers kitchen set up and much more!
Enjoy the adventures! Thanks for subscribing!

I've been trucking for a long time. I was also in the RV industry. My hobbies include tiny homes and sail boats. I have watched a ton of your videos. You are hands down the top of the pile for your niche. You also avoid many of the annoying cliches of truck driving videos. I truly can't praise you enough.

Family dollar sells a 10.00 rug that fits perfectly between the volvo seatbelts, stick and bed if your fridge door will clear it. I keep extras and treat my rug like laundry. Also there is a 12v Hotor car vac that is highly rated on amazon that stores in its own micro bag with attachments. A must have is elbow friend on amazon for hard volvo doors.

I have a 2016 Volvo 670, and I’m in the middle of my own deep clean and de clutter/reorganization as I prepare to start running more instead of being home every weekend all the time. If space comes at a premium in a 780, space in a 670 certainly does. Where do you find that pump head? I just bought a microwave, already have 8-quart instant pot, going to see if my ninja foodie xl grill fits, and maybe add a second fridge. I have a 3,000 inverter. The main thing I want to focus on is making space, and instead of plain milk crates, I bought some Rae Dunn crates to add a little designer flair. I drive solo, so the passenger seat is largely for my beagle puppy, and I store dry goods in front of that seat. As an owner operator, I appreciate videos like this. No matter how long you’ve been out here (me, 20+ years) you can always learn something new. Thanks.

So happy for ya and the new adventures ahead! Glad you found this video to be helpful. If you have Facebook or Instagram add us and send pics. @@SimpleLivin Oh, I’ve been driving for over 20+ years as a professional. I’m also a 2nd generation driver who used to ride with my dad. I’ve just never been that organized, especially as a bachelor lol. But, I finally decided to get my cab back in day 1 condition, and make it into more of a rolling apartment to help me stay out longer. I might create an Instagram account, although I’m so sick of Facebook lol.

You guys have some damn good ideas! I especially like how you recycle plastics. I learned the hard way about eating on the road. I used to spend tons of money on food because I’m a fat man trapped in a skinny man’s body, so your ideas about snacks helped a lot. Here’s a little snippet in case any of you drivers are bookworms like myself, get a Kindle or any ereader. Ereaders save you a ton of space if you devour paperbacks like I do. Anyway, keep up the good work. You guys are an inspiration to do more with less. Best wishes!!

Compared to some of the trucks i drove back in the late 70s and early 80s, your truck is like a condo on wheels, and of cores i was driving a International cab over, and if you think you are cramped for space, try living in one of those for two or three weeks, running teem.
@SimpleLivin
@SimpleLivin 6 жыл бұрын
willibill c trust me I am incredibly thankful for the continuous improvement of trucks and truck stops over the years. I love the look of a cabover but I can only imagine it was not a smooth ride! This Volvo does have a pretty big cab overall but compared to a house, apartment or how the average person lives it is beyond tiny.

T D I've been driving for 10 years now. I really could have only started 6 months prior because of my age. Thru my career I have surrounded myself with some pretty elite drivers. Winning multiple times at the national truck rodeo titles. I have also won awards myself and can honestly most times can diagnosed what's wrong with my own truck. I do agree with you though most drivers don't know a thing about their trucks.
@tomswinburn1778
@tomswinburn1778 6 жыл бұрын
willbill c The only time I ever drove a cabover was at driving school. We also had an assortment of KWs, Peterbilts and the like with standard sleepers. I cannot imagine driving that old cabover 3000 or more miles a week. That would have ended my career before it began. The cabover was an old jbh truck, and as bad as you would imagine. Bobtailing it wheezed going up a bridge. And BOUNCE? First company truck was a Ford 9000 with a Cat and Eaton Fuller. Thought I'd gotten into a race truck. Grossing 80,000 it pulled WAY better than that old Int. cabover without a trailer. Gotta admire the oldtimers. They had it tough. Living in a coffin.
@tomswinburn1778
@tomswinburn1778 6 жыл бұрын
T D, a real trucker learns his rig pretty fast. Most folks ain't mechanics, but the sounds, the smells, the way it handles and brakes are quickly learned IF you pay attention. Keeping an eye on your gauges is all important. If you can FORECAST a problem you're miles ahead. Too many truckers just ride the seat. That's a sure recipe for high repair bills, lengthy intervals OFF the road (not earning money) and dangerous situations. A diesel mechanic makes more money than a trucker and is home every night. If you're both, which would you do.

Hi! Are you owner/operators or company drivers? Do you use an inverter? If yes-what wattage? Have you tried using a Crockpot slow cooker? I haven’t seen your other videos. Does your truck have low voltage battery shut off switch? Thanks for the video!
@SimpleLivin
@SimpleLivin 3 жыл бұрын
We are company drivers. We have an inverter that is 1500 watt. It is hard wired and has fusses which does help protect the inverter. It will trip if it surges. I dont suggest a crockpot but instead a 6 qt instapot. The lids lock and steal on. They cant spill and cook much faster. I hope this helps. Welcome to adventures. Here is our trucker kitchen playlist I think you will find ut very helpful Trucker's Kitchen: kzbin.info/aero/PLjSMGTwa5pLB7fnXLczN5TbC_ibpdxWkO If you have either questions dont hesitate to ask. Simple Livin Great/Thanks! Sometimes my wife rides with me. But after my time off next week she’s staying home. So I’m thinking of the stuff that I want to cook. And like you and my wife said, carry enough water to wash dishes. I, too, prefer to keep my 5 gallon bottle full of water along with some extra gallon jugs. I have one of the 12 volt Burton slow cookers. I want to try cooking some breakfast sausages and tater tots or perhaps try cooking pork chops and veggies. I’m not well versed at cooking but during the next month I want experiment cooking stuff. Chili, omelettes, stews, cheesy veggies dip. I’m a company driver and the truck that I drive has a 1,200 watt inverter and a mini fridge. Hope you have a great weekend!

Pretty awesome organization ive lived on boats and used very similar storage solutions ironically i used the Brother label machines on most of the storage containers i started dating a Woman that thought that i was a freak originally because of how neat and organized i was in reality keeping supplies like that did help me save Money and take inventory for my shopping needs and that Woman really was a slob any way ! I was in construction foe over 20 years and ive always said that if i had taken a picture of my tool box opened up then and currently. All my tools would be in the same compartments and order call me OCD or whatever the hell you want but i was a woodworker the majority of my life and ive lost very few tools over my life and that has saved me lots of Money as i can look at my tool box and know if there is one missing and what it may be i have specialty drill bits that ive paid over 50 dollars a peice for so that adds up fast over 20 years That organization also made me very fast. At my job as i didnt have to spend the time looking for what i needed

Thank you for your serves! Find as many youtubers and watch their videos so you can have as much insight as possible. Also just go hang at a truck stop and talk to drivers. Most drivers are lonely and would love to give insight to someone interested.

Your 2018 looks alot like the older trucks. It doesn't have the table on the back wall or the push up shades or the bed that sits up?
@SimpleLivin
@SimpleLivin 6 жыл бұрын
SunShineMoto yes the bottom bed can also be made into a table with booth seating. If you check out the tour of our truck before I put everything in it you'll see how it sets up. I just found long term it wasn't practical to set up the table up and down nor were those cushions comfortable to sleep on. Though if I were a solo driver I would leave the table up and sleep on the top bunk
@Eastford
@Eastford 6 жыл бұрын
SunShineMoto The reclining bunk is a feature on the 760/860, not the 780. The 2018 780 is also known as the 780 "Legacy" which was built in the first half of 2017. The new models of Volvo Trucks are now the 760, which is a replacement for the 670 and the 860, which is a replacement for the 780. The 860 is basically the same as the 780 from seats and back. The only difference is the driver cab got a facelift with new dash, etc and a new aero kit.
