For my Mom, having curtains was very important for a home. Before buying a house, they moved often due to my Dad's work. She told me that her curtains never ever fit the windows of their next residence. Decades later, she took classes to sew brocade drapes for our living room. Every year my parents would load up our pickup (with canper shell) with toys, bicycles, sports equipment and clothes to give away to random people in poor neighborhoods. In addition to the baby dolls and dresses, my. Mom always brought curtains. The women would hug her tightly whenever she pulled out curtains that matched their windows sizes. ❤ Thank you for your video.

Your Agnes quilt has inspired me to do a 1” hexagon color wash quilt. I just spent a three month marathon making a hexagon twin quilt as you go all by hand. In addition to the color wash quilt I’m going to do a strip pieced quilt as you go by machine . I have a big stash of material to use up. The way you are always building and making things, you remind me of my grandmother. I love your channel and as a fairly new viewer still trying to catch up. Your relationship with Anna is priceless. She is also a joy to watch.

I had to try it too. So far I have 800, six petal flowers with bee centers and green leaves here and there. All little ditzy springtime prints. So far I really like having something I can do in front of the television.

@ that sounds really cute. I’m doing a color wash and have about 800 done and at the same time making a twin size strip pieced quilt by machine for a daybed. I found Kate just recently and trying to watch all her videos she is so inspiring and calming. Reminds me of times I got to spend at my Grandparents on their farm. I really miss that life.

Don’t know if I can manage a picture, but I recently finished a quilt made with recycled denim for my son-in-law. No plan, but just cut pieces to fit in, including pockets and interesting seams. I think the inspiration came from you. It was too heavy for batting so I used some soft fleece to back. But the best part of it was quilting with crochet thread by hand. I just outlined all the squares and rectangles and it looks so nice! This is also the fastest quilt I’ve ever made, in a little over a month. The first I ever made took me 5 years.

Hello, Kate, I was just introduced to the large eyed needles which are elongated and not broader at the eye. I invested in some darning needles and milliners needles, when I get back to my quilt frame, I will have to see if they sell the long eyed betweens. One of the biggest hints was not to moisten the thread, it makes the thread swell, he suggested cutting the end of the thread at a long angle. Imagine that, 76 years old and here I am learning how to thread a needle. Thank you so much for sharing all that you do around your lovely Home. Colleen

Your curtains are beautiful and so suitable for your cozy cabin. Linen was just the right choice for the fabric. My grandmother Dodo (1890-1987) was a professional seamstress in Charleston, South Carolina USA, and I remember her talking about French-felled and flat-felled seams. Interesting and relaxing episode.

How satisfying it is to see all of your handiwork lovingly set around your home and cabin! I love making things myself for friends and family and once in a while for myself 😜. I’m happy to say that my love of handiwork is being passed down to my son and his family! I taught my daughter in law to sew, and now my grandson, but one of my most loved memories is caught on film of my son when he was 18 or so, sitting at my sewing machine, cigarette dangling in his mouth 🤣 making his very own set of bedroom curtains!! Passing down the creative genes!!🥰👍🎉💜🎄

Kate, the curtains look spectacular! In the little wartime cottage that I lived in recently in a small town, I had many Batik Pojagi panels that I made using your tutorial. The windows were small, and I hung the panels just as you did, but I used tension rods. In our country home we recently moved to, the windows are soooo much larger, none of my Pojagi panels fit. I'm saddened by that....but I will figure something out! Enjoy your beautiful linen curtains!!🤗💖
