As someone with two years of experience, I highly recommend avoiding GRBL-based control boards. They often encounter random stopping issues, which can be incredibly frustrating and time-consuming, especially during CNC operations. Despite upgrading my stepper driver to the BT6600 and trying multiple solutions-such as upgrading the firmware, replacing the control board, and using different CNC software, changing usb cable, changing firmware, changing speed, changing power supply, supply voltage, usb settings, by running on different speed, the problem persists. Applying ground to machine body, changing usn cable Unfortunately, this is a problem rarely discussed on online platforms, but it can completely disrupt a job when the machine unexpectedly stops during cutting.

As someone who has build a 3d printed cnc... hardware and architecture matter the most... electronics are the easiest part. Especially if you know anything about how electronics work. Cncs are not thst special tbh, the hardware and how you set up the machine are critical though.

Interesting take on the classic design but looks more like a quick knock-off with widely available hardware rather than a proper build. Done one myself and need to make a few points: the lead screws should have backlash nuts and springs, you did not use any washers with the bolts on the plastic parts, the contact surface is too small and can cause cracks, for a palm router, I'd add axial trust bearings on the motors between the coupling and the motor flange, also 10mm rods on the Z axis the lead screws should be mounted on bearings on both sides with shims and lock collars if anyone attempts to build this, I'd suggest to print from ASA, or, PETG at the least. PLA is just not good enough, don't forget you're dealing with some serious torque here, it's not a 775 motor!!! I've a bunch routers in my wood-shop from 700W to 2kW, I know 1st hand how they can kick back really hard DO NOT FORGET to wire up the EMERGENCY STOP switch!!! Happy CNC-ing

key chucks are not safe at the speed of a CNC machine. A good CNC spindle will easily rotate at 30 ,000 RPM and at that speed you need security @@omsingharjit

If you don't use ball screws the backlash will lead to inaccuracy. If tolerances are not that important then regular lead screws will do ok.

Yes, but only if you have a very precise mill and very small bits. I don’t know if this would be the best for making PCBs. Try PCBway or JLCPCB because you can order them for $2.
