Ever seen this one? Even after carefully calibrating the XYZ axes my 3018-PROVer and using the Z-probe on every setup, it consistently cuts between 2mm and 3mm deeper than what is called out (using an end mill with a 1/8" shank - the goal is to get a cut 1mm deep in 3mm stock but no luck). Everything else seems to be working accurately across multiple test files in VCarve Pro 10.5, UGS, and Candle but they all produce much deeper cuts than what I'm instructing the CNC make. Cheers
@techydiy Жыл бұрын
I think I would start by manually jogging the machine z axis up and down by 1mm, 2mm, 10mm etc. and seeing if it actually moves that amount. Also see if you have any play in the z axis.

There is an option in VTransfer for X-Carve -- I ignored it because I don't know what X-Carves is -- that allows you to specify the height of your Z-probe as well as a default move rate. I've been using a die grinder for aluminum support parts for 3d printing projects. With surprisingly good results but it lacks precision for small parts. It was just lazy attempt to use what i had. After you installed the Y extension kit, did you notice the table/build plate become more ‘flimsy’ ? I installed the extension kit, and the new linear rails, are not any bigger in diameter.. and wen u push on the corner of the table/build plate, it will move a 1/4 inch, and you can see the linear rails bow.. really not liking that.. trying to cut aluminum parts..

It's was pretty much the same as before the upgrade. Cut in the middle or add some linear rails or I think some people have added some 3d printed edge supports.
@advancedenergy72773 жыл бұрын
@@techydiy yea. I found a place out in Colorado that sells a 12mm linear rail upgrade for the 3018.. both in standard 3018 length, and the length of the extended Y axis upgrade.. they also sell the matching 12mm bearing mounts at the right height, and their bearing mounts are also longer, and have 2 bearings in each mount, so it’s easier to get the bed & rails aligned so you don’t get that drag or “crunchy” harsh movement of the Y axis.. I’m now debating with myself, weather just the 12mm upgrade will be enough, or if I should add 2 more 12mm linear rails toward the outsides of the bed.

It is possible to connect some spindle power supplies to the control pcb to allow speed control. It depends on where you get the spindle. Am getting a lot of EMI with the similar setup here. Where can I get the steel housing for the power supply?
@techydiy3 жыл бұрын
It's one of these www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/BX963.html I wouldn't specifically recommend it, I just happened to have one. Look for an aluminium instrument case or project box on ebay, Amazon etc. Its also worth getting some rfi filtering for the mains lead. Something like this uk.rs-online.com/web/p/power-line-filters/7804991/ or this uk.rs-online.com/web/p/power-line-filters/1704997/

Hello, I also have such a motor (48V). It was working before, but yesterday, while scraping wood, the motor had a hard time and suddenly stopped. Now it doesn't work at all. I measured it with a multimeter. There is electricity (48V) at the output of the PWM driver and the positive and negative terminals of the motor are powered, but the motor does not move. What do you think might be causing the problem?
@davidhawley11322 жыл бұрын
I had a similar issue, but the symptom was after the scraping incident, the feed rates became incredibly slow. Eventually I did a $RST and then reestablished the original settings.

@@davidhawley1132 There is no problem with my CNC machine. Spindle motor does not spin. (The motor was working independently from the CNC machine)
@techydiy2 жыл бұрын
Use the multimeter to check the resistance of the windings. They might be open circuit, shorted, it could be a problem with the brushes.

Thank's for your video : i'll notice the link! I re-designed the electronic parts of the 3010 because i find it too weak and no electrical keys anywhere can bring several electric damages to the machine. I have 2 questions: 1/ Is the 3040 stronger or better than the 3010? 2/ And may we do the same thing with the 3010? Does anybody knows? Thank You!

You can edit the gcode with a text editor. This is the offending line "M0 ;T102" just delete it. The post processor is fixed so nothing useful can be changed there.

afaik the main gotcha between the models is the spacing of the x axis linear rod, means z axis kits may need massaging.
