Especially for those from dysfunctional families, it's so difficult and yet important to learn this stuff.

Sure 😂 Female teachers are the most pathological example for women how to treat man. Every woman behaving like a teacher towards a husband creates conflict. It's a pathological example for relationships. Zero respect, all power and zero responsibility. Typical school teacher

Amazing! Most couples fight about the failure to connect emotionally...so amazingly and terrifyingly true. Nearly seems to predict any fight Ive ever had.

Marry your best friend. I did. That was 33 years ago. We never wanted kids. It was always about us. And always remember. She is right. Whatever the problem is. Most of the time it's not that important. I got lucky. And listen.

Took me twice to find my best friend. My 1st husband was my best enemy, my 2nd husband is my best friend. I am thankful to my 1st husband bc he taught me so much about what I didn't want, that I found what I did.

At 18:00, Dr John G. starts describing successful couples and their, I'd say, humble responses to critical feedback.

John Gottman has achieved more for couples then anybody else in our time. Thank you, John! It's so wonderful that you did all this research. Study his masterpiece nonfiction book "What makes Love last?" that sums up most of his recommendations.

I enjoyed Dr. John Gottman's speech and research about relationships. As a therapist, I admire his strategies to creating healthy and healthy relationships. I would love to interview John and Julie on my radio show on the keys to a happy and healthy marriage. Let me know and we can coordinate a good time to have them on the show.

Anyone know the name of the apps at 27:20?? Wow, this was insightful. It's small things like doing little activities your partner likes just to make them happy and complimenting on the little things that help them feel seen......... KISSING is big, I often need the kissing to be good and often before I can get to the deeper part of relations. I've ended relationships over bad kisses 😅. It was turning me off. Now I feel validated for that lol.

Overall I really enjoyed his speech but I felt like he got a bit defensive about the "wrong reasons" question and through that and other comments I feel like he doesn't understand childhood trauma
