If you're buying a vise for doing work like this, look at wood working vises. Mine has countersunk provisions for screwing wood on to the face from behind. I have soft wood on mine and it works amazingly well for anything i don't want to mar up. I've also custom carved pieces for specific applications in the vise

Absolutely love this, thanx for all the help and inspiration. I currently own a Dremel and wanted to put it to good use. This will work perfectly😊❤❤

I don't see why not! I've driiled holes in the spoon end and attached fishing hardware in the past

How could I go about closing that gap in the ring?
@WeBuildStuff3 ай бұрын
@@kevincampoy204 if a flush and tight fit you can "silver solder" it like a jeweler would. I don't have videos on that

Sharp bends. Don't snap the die or press too hard!

Hi. Great videos. Can you only use silver spoons, or can you use stainless steel as well. Thank you. Claire.
@oidi9 ай бұрын
stainless steel cutlery works fine too. Be carefull with the thickness of the piece though, as they are a lot harder to bend and takes time to get perfect roundness. Also, if you are using a really cheap ring bender, the stainless steel could possibly cause the ring bender to fail & break.

@@moniregb5682 your more than welcome, also wanted to give a quick tip, especially when using stainless steel, make sure you have the sized length of cutlery your using flat to the bottom of the nylon die when bending, becuase if you dont, after bending all around, it will be warped, and stainless steel is very unforgiving when trying to correct it ;)

Are the spoons you use silver or silver plated. Also do you anneal the metal before you bend?

How do I make different sizes?? Size 6,7.5, 8.5, etc. or is it assumed you just take the closest sized dye??
@WeBuildStuff Жыл бұрын
I wouls change your die size and use a ring mandrel to make it perfect. Of course many of the "pro-commenters" will probably say something different to do with industry standards but if the end product works then I say good enough!

What do you do for cleaning? What price should you be paying for spoons?
@WeBuildStuff10 ай бұрын
At the moment we just sand to a high grit a polish with red polish compound until they feel smooth. I try to get donated spoons for the classroom or buy in bulk from thrift shops
@alfonsedente96798 ай бұрын
You can steal a spoon, which makes it free. .25 cents in a goodwill store. $200 from Tiffany's. Cleaning is the same method for a spoon (even though it looks like a ring, its still a spoon. MAGIC!)

Would have been less work if you would have cut your Spoon to the right measures. Chart said 2.7, you did 3.0. You ended up with cutting the 0.3 to finaly fit your correct Size.

In case you don't know where you went wrong, ring sizing is based on gauge (the thickness of the metal). You needed to use a ring sizing chart that showed your metal by gauge so you can cut the length accordingly.
@WeBuildStuff Жыл бұрын
Link a chart for others to see please. This was day 2 playing with this tool and just a quick intro for kids so they don't destroy the equipment within the first week. Making the rings perfect will take some practice but for now it's been fun to play with.
