I made two of these as gifts. Mine were heavy duty sized because I gifted them to the firefighters who moved into the new firehouse in our neighborhood. I painted the shelves/ coat racks and stenciled them with the words, “Come Home Safe.” Truly wanted the firefighters to know how appreciated they are.

Nice one. I sometimes look after two dogs for my friends and they need somewhere to hang their dog leads. I’m thinking that a shorter version of this with just two hooks would be perfect. Even better, I have everything I need to make this so it wouldn’t cost us anything. Although they’ll probably buy me a drink for it anyway. Thanks for the idea, Steve.

Yea I had some glue I needed to transfer from a bottle which had a leak. That's when I reached for the old washing up bottle from the bin.

Happy new year Phil. I really appreciate your content last year. I hope you get more subs this year cos your channel is very clear, concise and projects are easy to follow. It's also very useful for us UK followers when you advise where you source your equipment from as well. Looking fwd to more interesting projects in 2024!! Keep up the good work.

Thanks Phill, another great use of recycled/repurposed materials, glad you managed to salvage the project by using the wood dye, easy to say with retrospect ( and I never think to do it ) but it's often a good idea to do a test piece before applying finish to a whole project as it's a bit of a lottery knowing just how each piece of timber will respond to staining or waxing ! That bradawl looks like a reground old Stanley 5000 PZ2, I have one very similar !
@PhillWyattProjects

Cheers Andy. Yes I should have done a test I've learnt the hard way this time. I bought that bradawl for 50p recently from a second hand shop that sells furniture and tools. It's pretty good. 👍🏻

Happy New Year Phil.Both are doable projects like your pencil holder.These small projects are a stepping stone to develop into greater, complex ones.Please can you do a simple Box,jewellery box,step stool and a bench hook.For finishing Steve Ramsey used to say just a coat of Johnson baby oil will suffice because it contains Mineral oil.You can make your own polishing wax by mixing Bees wax and mineral oil 1 to 4 ratio.many videos in you tube for those interested. I made a kitchen towel holder.

Happy new year Phill, Nice coat racks , the wood stained has got a brilliant finish with nice wood grain contrast with the light on it looks good. The purple finish is amazing even with the colour the grain still comes through and with both racks waxed they are good in there own finishes. As always a great project and video. catch you on the next one, Take care👍

Thank you. Yea I like the saw it's quite light and portable. I like the electronic brake on it. It stops the blade almost instantly. It's also a fairly quiet saw which I prefer. Happy New Year!
