The Wood Model Workshop series of videos is about learning how to build wood models. It is not about showing off the latest cool thing. There are lots of little details and tricks I will share here about what I've learned, and what I've messed up on my model building journey.

Is that an upcoming plan next to you? Payloader? We need a Devries excavator next!

Why yes it is a Payloader! That is the prototype you see in the video which I am about 75% done with. Will have to build it again though for additional book photos, so looking at maybe early 2025 for publishing. An excavator is on the list, but at the moment it is just sketches, so quite a ways out. That is the next project after the Loader. Thanks for asking.

Do you have plans to publish the BIG Truck and/or BIG Stream Roller books in metric units by any chance?

Yes, I do. I will be doing the BIG Truck after I finish the Payloader model I am working on now. It will take a bit of time, since in addition to doing a metric version I also go through the entire book to clarify things, make corrections, take new photographs if needed, etc... it isn't just doing a metric conversion (I don't convert the Imperial design, I actually do an entirely separate Metric drawing so the measurements all fall exactly on the millimeter grid), it is a full re-build and upgrade of the book design. But I digress. The Steam Roller will be much easier and faster as I don't think it will require a re-build of the model. Thanks for asking.

Unfortunately your thickness sander and saw is no longer available. Can you recommend where to purchase similar please?

I believe that MicroMark and Proxxon both make a hobby sized table saw and thickness sander. I am also working on plans for building your own thickness sander since they are quite simple machines, but those won’t be out for a while.

I’d be very interested in your thickness sander build. I’m in Australia and post is a killer for the machines 😅
