Just wanted to say that you are a saint. When my workplace gets his 3D printing station I will try to copy your design. We work mainly with students and with this interface I hope that I can give students with restricted motor skills a barrier-free way to interact with mobile devices like notebooks, iPads and more.

As I reach the completion of this Scissor Lift table. I am looking back at the challenges that I had. The instructions are good but there is a significant number of points where you are forced to think and draw on your own experience. The table is complete except for the wheels and the top. As a parting challenge, the lead screw assembly is VERY VERY stiff. I will spend the next days trying to determine what is binding. The video makes the raising and lowering look easy. In my case it is difficult to put it mildly. Maybe lubrication will help. I suspect there is some misalignment with the leadscrew and the leadscrew carriage. It does get easier to operate as the table gets above about 25 inches. Steve... If you see this, could you offer any pointers on how to resolve the leadscrew problems?
@s.g.devries8557
@s.g.devries8557 Ай бұрын
I would suggest trying blue grease. That is what I used, and quite a bit of it along the lead screw along the portion where the carriage travels. I have used white lithium grease on my older version of this table but I didn't like it near as much because it was stickier. One other thing you could try to check if things are mis-aligned, try removing the nuts on the tail end of the lead screw and popping the tail end bearing out of its hole to allow the end of the threaded rod to hang free temporarily. If the threaded rod wants to push in one direction or the other, it would mean that the screw carriage isn't quite aligned with the head bearing.

@@s.g.devries8557 Thank you. I ordered the type suggested. The grease I had on hand was similar and it did help. Now to put the table to work for my chairmaking adventure.

Do you have plans to publish the BIG Truck and/or BIG Stream Roller books in metric units by any chance?
@s.g.devries8557
@s.g.devries8557 Ай бұрын
Yes, I do. I will be doing the BIG Truck after I finish the Payloader model I am working on now. It will take a bit of time, since in addition to doing a metric version I also go through the entire book to clarify things, make corrections, take new photographs if needed, etc... it isn't just doing a metric conversion (I don't convert the Imperial design, I actually do an entirely separate Metric drawing so the measurements all fall exactly on the millimeter grid), it is a full re-build and upgrade of the book design. But I digress. The Steam Roller will be much easier and faster as I don't think it will require a re-build of the model. Thanks for asking.

@@s.g.devries8557 Thanks for your reply. I really look forward to it, and I appreciate that you take the time to do this properly, that's great! Will the Payloader get a metric version in the first release?

I believe that MicroMark and Proxxon both make a hobby sized table saw and thickness sander. I am also working on plans for building your own thickness sander since they are quite simple machines, but those won’t be out for a while.

Is that an upcoming plan next to you? Payloader? We need a Devries excavator next!
@s.g.devries8557
@s.g.devries8557 Ай бұрын
Why yes it is a Payloader! That is the prototype you see in the video which I am about 75% done with. Will have to build it again though for additional book photos, so looking at maybe early 2025 for publishing. An excavator is on the list, but at the moment it is just sketches, so quite a ways out. That is the next project after the Loader. Thanks for asking.

So this idea would be interesting to apply to a trundle bed where you want the lower mattress to rise up to the level of the higher one when the lower mattress is pulled out... (makes sense?). Which is how I found this video as I am searching for a solution. Of course what you're showing here is beyond my skill set at the moment, and would take too long, sadly.

Excellent Video!!!!! This will be the perfect table for my chairmaking hobby. There are so many different levels that are needed if I am able to work without stooping over. It appears that all the details are in the book. Truly this project will be a challenge in laying out all those holes to get them in exactly the right place and square to the surface. Thank you for taking the time to produce this video.

I don't own a 3d printer. But if I did, I would certainly try printing the parts, just to see how difficult it would be. Would still take quite a bit of sanding and painting work though to get it to look good. And of course it wouldn't be a woodworking project any more, which is most of the fun of it, for me at least. Thanks for watching!

I have to say this may have been my fault but I am extremely disappointed, I am just now seeing this video and thought your comments were saying you updated this one and revised your book to reflect changes since some of you parts you referenced in the other video are now unavailable. Soooooo I ordered your book, WRONG, it’s the other model with the chains and whips, whoops and unobtainable parts…now what….I will say this in the most delicate way….I’m not smart enough to figure this out, that’s why I ordered the book, so I guess I’m out 25 bucks and no jig!!!

Hi. I'm about to start getting parts for the metric version, however seems to be an issue with stated sprocket on large sprocket axle and sprocket on rotation wheel axle. The added radius of both, is larger that center distance between the two axles, as far as I can see, meaning the sprockets will overlap. Alternatively I can source 0,250 pitch sprockets, however the smallest available sprocket found is with 20 teeth, and again this will make the added radius larger than center distance between the two axles. Guess the axle of the rotation wheel will have to be moved a bit away from the the large sprocket axle. Have any done the metric version, and can comment on this?
