Making Simple Ninja Throwing Spikes (Bo Shuriken) with basic Hand Tools

In this video, I made some throwing spikes (also known as Bo Shuriken) out of some 6-inch construction nails and I only used hand tools.

If you have a drill that can fit the nail diameter, clamp the file down and use the drill to file down the nail. Like a reverse lathe.

Also if you have a lathe or a friend who has access to a lathe. Chuck them up spin them at a pretty good rate of speed. And polish them with 320 grit or higher. Work your way up the grits all the way up to as high as you can find. And they'll shine like fresh cat shit in the moon light. Then there won't be any air drag. And if your hands are clean they'll grip you because of the finish. But since you used nails they'll rust unless you keep them lubed. Or you can shoot them with clear. While still in the lathe or drill. Then the coats will be even and smooth.

Unfortunately, I do not have a friend that has a lathe. I may get a belt sander somewhere around this year so I can polish it. and yeah most of them have rusted, I was thinking of putting a coat of lacquer on them to prevent it from rusting. do you think it will work? or are there better options for coats for metal?

@@jamesliew738 you could also use an electric drill chuck them up spin them up do the polishing flip it around and same if your drill chuck is large enough or while you're spinning one end shrink the head of the nail with a file. So you hopefully don't have to buy a sander tye the drill down and the trigger so you can shine the nails like your shining shoes two handed. I'm sorry I was talking to someone at the same time. I forgot you already cut the heads off. Also use the drill to spin it up and use a file to make the points longer. More like the SR71 black bird rather than a DC3 aircraft. Long sharp dangerous points. Also more arrow dynamic. And shoot some clear lacquer on them while spinning to create a smooth coat. Resand and repeat and polish. That coating will last until you scrap or nick through got to keep them oxygen free. Or here comes mister rust!!! No coating wants to stick to a polished surface use rough grit then coat and sand repeat till you are happy with the Finnish. Maby 2 or 3 coats and polish. I forgot to tell you if you don't have an electric drill get a cheap plug in style and since you have the trigger tied in the on position use the plug in and unplug as your on off switch. Or break down and spend a little money and get yourself some stainless steel rods or long rod and cut the length that's right for you polish those up just one time and your finished. Instead of all that work on nails!!! Good luck with the guitar there guy!!!!

spend some money on a rotery tool, it can cut and sand and shape within seconds and you can make 50 of these instead of 3. also may want to heat the whole nail up instead of hust half of it

The points need to be a longer angle. Like positive 15 degree or less so that there maby an inch to an inch and a half with a razor sharp point. It'll help in flight to remain straight after release. But if you're still learning then there fine till you get really good at speed of flight and accuracy. Then you can just keep filing till you get them to your liking. I wish you all the luck in the world may you only have bulls eyes every time.
