Making solid dish soap doesn't go as planned!

Trying out a high coconut oil soap in a slab mold, goes beautifully until the end! Doesn't turn out as well as I wanted, but it's a great learning experience and I have some experiments planned!

Looking for a great recipe that is conditioning and not stripping to get started? This is my base recipe I prefer for my dry skin! You can tweak to your heart's content, but this is what I use for my business, varying the palm, tallow, hemp and sunflower depending on the customer. 🧡
40% olive oil
20% coconut oil
20% palm oil or tallow
10% Shea butter
5% hemp seed or sunflower oil
5% castor oil
7% superfat

I had this exact same thing happen to me, it was 100% coconut dish soap in a loaf to cut into 3. I only dared wait an hour to cut because the outside was so hard but the inside was gooey like that, still in active gel.

There are different safe usage rates for each essential oil. I would figure out which one you want to use and look up the safe usage. I generally don't use more than 5% in a recipe, even if safe usage is higher. Thank you for watching and happy soaping!

Thank you for taking the time to post! 💚 I have heard that citric acid helps with soap scum, although I've never tried it. We have very soft water here, so it hasn't been too much of a concern yet. If you try it, let me know how it performs!
