And as for the ghost lev by the garg skull, 3 minutes of your time, a stasis rifle, and a thermoblade, and boom. Lost river is officially safer then anywhere else. Mind the sulfuric acid. Anybody who thinks subnautica isn't 100% a horror game hasn't played in VR. Genuinely the scariest thing I've ever played

The best one out of all of these is the Migration mod because its still vanilla, but it makes the entire game feel like swimming next to the aurora even if there isnt a reaper near. Simply the possibility of there being one is a nightmare.

Here's how to make subnautica (more) terrifying with mods. Create a mod that allows some sentient entity to start messing with your game by doing seemingly innocuous things like building small base pieces around or stealing your seamoth; but then as you progress it becomes more and more malevolent and hides a little less, until it truly let's you see it on the floater island where it has a base containing IRL pictures of you. Hmm... someone should make a video about that ;)

That much water there made me come up with a "subnautica 3" concept: The surface oceans of 4546B are merely a fraction of the oceans on the planet. The overwhelming majority is located beneath the initial tectonic plate, known as the Bottom of the void. Completely devoid of sunlight, the vast expanse of the Inner Void is a place untouched even by the architects. Creatures that live there are nothing alike those in the surface oceans. Life only exists in the Inner Void because of a single plant species, Mirror Root. The plant feeds on nutrients in the ground and gives off trace amounts of light, very similiar to sunlight. Mirror roots can vary in size, from tiny to superleviathan sized specimens. They wrap around cave walls and grow downwards, creating glowing vines. The Inner Void is filled with thermal vents and volcanoes. Creatures that exist within that place are unfathomably large and dangerous. The inner void was completely sealed off from the rest of the planet, untill the aurora crashed onto 4546B. A long time after the crash, the wreck started gradually tilting towards the crater edge, untill it tumbled down enough to start falling. After descending tens of kilometers into the abyss, the aurora impacted the "bottom", creating a hole in it. That hole connected to the Inner Void.

The end with the water level is basically if you somehow had your life pod land at the bottom of the void, apart from the plant life as the kelp would all be dead from lack of sunlight. I still have an idea for where you start in the Void bottom and have to be in a vehicle at all times due to the pressure. I had a really long comment about it before and I think it was before below zero was made but it could have been after. There would be certain buildings that you'd have to delivery resources into from a collection vehicle so you could make other things. The safest places would be in the structures and near the seafloor because the closer to the surface you go, the bigger the leviathans would be. One sector would be a massive dome that has water you can actually swim in as the dome structure would allow a different pressure inside. It would have something similar to a pressure chamber which lowers pressure when you enter or increases for you to leave. Who knows, maybe when you come across the dome it's been broken into and you have to repair it. Then over time leviathans would damage it and you'd have to keep it stable to keep the pressure safe. Perhaps automating bots down the road to take care of it through outside resources of mines then transport of material and so on. The escape portion is such a problem because you would need to make sure that the first thing you do is have enough resources for another vehicle incase yours gets consumed or blown up. Otherwise you'd be stuck in the one building you start in. Story line would be having a massive vehicle getting attacked by a massive beast. In the distance is a floating architect structure, it's been marked as a teleporter and your vehicle is so extremely damaged it's about to explode. You use and escape pod like sub to be launched in the structures direction. Your large ship soon explodes but it soon can tell about your movement. So it chases you again, gaining speed because your smaller vehicle has less thrust. You make it to the structure and activate the teleporter, you can see the leviathan charging at you. Everything goes black as water rushes in, you are thrown forward in what is an architect base. The teleporter shuts off permanently as it's other end has been destroyed and a drain system activates for the water. Exploring this place leads to a collector vehicle docked to the building. This vehicle crawls along the seafloor and is how you get resources. When you have enough you head back and deposit the resources into the building for you to use. With this architect structure, you get your consciousness copied in a dormant form so if you die, you can respawn with memories intact. You also want extra materials because if your vehicle gets destroyed then you'd be stuck... for a while as the facility would have it's own mining sector but it's slow. From this you can explore other structures, like that dome I mentioned. Or find wrecks of other vehicles that are made to handle these depths. If you're too risky in traveling upwards, you run into leviathans. Some sectors have large floating "plants" which are needed as resources but would be fairly high up so you'd have to risk at some point. I could keep going but it just sort of builds on what I've said. You're stranded in the void and can't get to the surface to leave the Planet. If you try to measure the depth, all you get is "???" And an error message. Sorry it's a bit of a long read but what do you think?

I love the idea! Really hoping we see something similar in the 3rd game :)

The start thrilled me as someone who has Mental Issues with Deep Water sincde Childhood I felt shivers down my spine and i felt the brutal feeling of FEAR and DREAD I climbed on top of my chair feeling as if the bottomless deep is once again opening below me It felt like outsmarting death or escaping north korea when the Intro began the Part with CWL/Custom Water Level and 9999 Levels of water made me climb onto my desk as i felt the Creatures bloodthirsty eyes were locked on me as if they were ready to chomp me all the way behind the screen Im so glad my Twitter Subnautica Challenge was like this 👇 Doing Subnauica with scariest mods in VR: 37% Doing random tuff every 42 Seconds: 55% Hatching all eggs and seeing what they will grow into: 8% And not like this Doing Subnauica with scariest mods in VR: 84% Doing random tuff every 42 Seconds: 5% Hatching all eggs and seeing what they will grow into: 11% Cuz i would have died if i did the VR one My Advice: DO NOT play with Return of the Ancients or go into the void if u have talasophobia Well gudbye

I honestly think the random creature size mod makes it more comedic than scary, can’t be scared if they can’t fit in the cave as though they were an overfed gargantuan. Edit: Also don’t think they move any faster despite their size increase, if they moved faster like they had more power with their size, it would actually be horrifying, other than that, the rest are pretty good for adding some extra punch.

Great point about the speed :) Could definitely help!

Big monsters constantly chasing you like the gargantuan aren’t scary, they’re dangerous. Scary things are hiding in the dark. You know they are there but you can’t see them, they know exactly where you are. That thought terrifies me going into deep oceans even knowing I could solo 2 reapers. You never know if there’s something else out there, perhaps a bigger fish.
