A Quick Hitch is a great addition for your tractor. It makes installing attachment a whole loot easier!!! ... BUT ...
When I got my Quick Hitch I thought I was away to races. Getting my attachments on and off was going to be a cake walk. Well hold on there big fella, it's not as simple as all that!!!
If you have older attachments, they may not be compatible with the Quick Hitch configuration. This was the case for me since some of my attachments were 'pre-Quick Hitch' vintage.
Some of my attachments, like the snow blower and the rear blade, were pretty easy to adapt. Just a minor adjustment to the top link pin and it was good. But the box blade as a bit more involved.
In this video I show how I make some changes to the way the box blade mounts on the Quick Hitch and it seems t be working pretty good for me so far.
BTW if you get a Quick Hitch, don't forget to get some 3 point arm lift pin bushings as well. The attachment won't work too good without these little darlings!!!
Have a look at this video and see what I do to make my box blade Quick Hitch compatible. It isn't rocket science, but it did make me scratch my head and few other spots before I got it to work out!!!
Thanks for tuning in and if it's your first time on the channel I'm honored that you found us!!! Please take some time to comment and thumbs up me. And if you have a mind too, you can subscribe too!!!
Here's a link to when I was first trying out the Quick Hitch:

Nice job Mike! These quick hitches are a life savor! I found converting my attachments to fit the standard hitch setup worked the best for me, as I do not need to ever adjust the hitch itself. How's she goin'? Thanks for dropping by the channel Tyler!!! Great to have you on board!! Some of my attachments were 'older' ones and weren't really set up for a Quick Hitch, but it turns out they aren't that hard to modify. My only issue was with the box blade and I need to adjust the top link hook. But I think I can modify the box blade so I won't even have to do that!!! Thanks again for watching and take care!!

Nice job. I recently got a box blade for my compact tractor. I had a tough time getting the implement to fit my quick hitch. I watched your video and understood the process better. My BB is made by the same outfit as yours. But there is a difference. The bottom hole, where the 4 arms are bolted around the spacer (for the hock to pick up the blade with), is smaller than the top hole. So changing to use the top hole will be difficult. The holes in the arms are 5/8 - matching the bottom hole of forward arms. The top hole, of the forward arms is 3/4. So if I use the top hole the bolt will be loose in the top forward arm holes. I would have to ream out the bottom hole - not an easy job. I think I'll continue to use the bottom hole for joining all four arms. If I find I'm having trouble, I'll ream or drill the back arm holes out. Note - my BB came with a bolt for the lower mounting hole (5/8") and a pin for the top hole (3/4"). I'm not sure how I would use a pit at the top to 'gather' the four arms together. It seems to me there would be a lot of slack on that pin - causing extreme wear on stuff. The top pin must be for a different model of quick hitch. than I have.

How's she goin'? The Quick Hitch is pretty nice but it should be called a 'faster way to hook up' because for a lot of older implements it sure isn't quick eh!! Your description of the issue you are having was good. I'm sorry I have nothing to offer to help though. I agree with you that a loose fit to hold the 4 arms together is only asking for premature wear and that wouldn't be good. Just a thought about reaming the holes, if you took the arms off and took them to a machine shop or garage, maybe they could ream them for you pretty quick. Thanks a lot for watching my video. I sure appreciate it and I enjoyed your comment. I hope we can hook up again sometime. Take 'er easy!!

Salut Joe!!! Right on. Adjusting the top hook is easily done. One thing I have noticed though, by moving the brace arms on the box blade to the top hole on the mounting plate, the mount is now tipped towards the back of the box blade. This reduces the adjustments I can make and also makes it a bit tricky to hook up. So I was thinking I would make 2 new holes on the cross pieces that the braces bolt to at the back of the box. That way the mount would come back to being more vertical. If you can understand all that then you must be an engineer!! LOL Thanks for tuning in Joe and take care!

Hey there Dave!!! Yes it worked out pretty good. The only real issue I have is the mount on the box blade is now tipped toward the back of the box. Makes it a bit tricky to hook up and lessens adjustments that may need to be made for various jobs. I think a solution to this would be to drill 2 new holes on the braces that go from the box beam to the back of the box blade that the braces attach too. This way I can move the braces forward more and make the mount stand up straighter. I hope you can understand my explanation!!! LOL Thanks a lot for watching Dave and take care!!
@daveknowshow
@daveknowshow 3 жыл бұрын
@@GrampiesWorkshop that is sounds like the issue I was thinking of. perhaps add a piece of steel on each side where the braces attach at the box. maybe 3 inches long with two holes located at 1 inch from each end or what ever is needed. then attach the braces to the top hole of that 3 inch piece and the bottom hole attached to the box? that may be clear as mud for an explanation. Hey Mike I’m thinking of getting the same Quick hitch from Princess Auto. Are you still happy with it? Also, I have a GC2310 and I heard you mention about changing the rear tail lights to LED. I’m wondering if you could tell me which ones you used please?
@GrampiesWorkshop
@GrampiesWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
How's she goin'? The Quick Hitch is doing great!!! Some of my implements weren't compatible with it, but that wasn't the quick hitch's fault. The attachments were older versions. It was pretty easy to get them to work though. The LED tail lights are nice for sure too. The one thing you need to watch for is to get LED lights that can be operated by the flasher. Because the LEDS take so little current they don't heat up the flasher element and sometimes they won't flash. Here is a link to the lights I got: www.amazon.ca/Replacement-Camper-Signal-Lights-Backup/dp/B095VN61S1/ref=sr_1_16?dchild=1&keywords=1141+LED+Lights&qid=1626906998&sr=8-16 It's a long one but these lights are 'bright white' and can be used in flasher circuits. I also replaced the headlights with LEDs as well as the 4-way flashers and that made a big difference. A lot less current draw on the alternator. This was handy for me since when I plow in winter it's usually in the dark and the work lights I have, even though they are LED as well, was a pretty good raw and sometimes I wasn't making enough voltage to charge the battery!!! LOL Thanks a bunch for the comment and I hope this info will help you out!!! Thanks for watching and I hope to see you back again!!!

When you moved the arms on the box scrape from the bottom hole to the top hole was this simple to do?

How's she goin'? Thanks a lot for tuning in!! When I tightened up the bolts the arms sort of just bent to suit. The bends were just about right to start with. Great question. Thanks a lot for dropping by and take care!!!

Aye old wise one. Got any wisdom. For a youngster looking to buy his first compressor?

How's she goin'? Well your 1st compressor eh!!! Big step. What I looked for was a compressor that had a pump crank case with oil. Some of the compressor's I looked at didn't have the crank in oil. I think having and oil filled crank case makes for a better machine. Other than that just make sure it can produce enough SCFM to supply your tooling. Thanks for dropping by and I hope this helps you out some. Take care!!

pay for a cat 1 and still have to pay extra for bushings = seems wrong to me. may be easer. to put a half bushing each side of the quick hitch. I think there is actually ONE brand that sells the cat 1 quick hitch with actual cat 2 hooks. but Grampie fixed it anyway.

How's she goin'? It does seem off that the hitch would require bushings. I see now that some Quick Hitches do come with a set of bushings. I have used my quick hitch with no bushings but it is pretty close to being able to come free of the locking arms. Thanks a lot for tuning in and commenting. I sure appreciate the visit!! Take 'er easy!!!

How's she goin'? You're right. Most Quick Hitches have an adjustable top hook and between that and being able to make some mods to the implements I was lucky to be able to get my attachments to mate up with the Quick Hitch. I do have to adjust the top hook for some of them though so that makes this more like a 'quicker hitch' rather than a 'quick hitch'!! LOL Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you can back again!! Take 'er easy!!!
