You can't really ask for a better review than this! I'm the new owner of a Mahindra 3016 and have been considering the Easy Change system just to make things a little more manageable as I move from one implement to another. I just noticed that Pat's also sells the PTO Link system to make connecting to the implements all the better. Your video on the PTO Link was a real breath of fresh air, and I think this combo might be just the thing I need. Now all I have to do is save up my pennies.

Thank you! The choice really depends on the type and age of the implements you have or are planning to get. I preferred Pat’s because it is compatible with any implement rather than worrying about whether an implement is compatible with a Quick Hitch. Thanks for watching!

Very informative. i ordered the pats system today as I have some older implements and a post hole digger that would not fit with as easy change system. But anything is easier than pushing pins and aligning arms. More so on the plow where the pins are in different hights.

Thank you for another excellent video. Another disadvantage of the Quick Hitch (Kubota) is that, at least with my tractor (Kubota L2501), the frame of the QH blocks my view of the lower clamps from the seat. So I have to guess, based on the top hook, where they are when backing up to an implement. This results in my often having to get off the tractor a half dozen (or more) times to look. Very frustrating. I purchased the Pat's system a few days ago and plan to install it today.
@DIYMyWay

Thanks for the kind words, Steve! You bring up a point no one else has mentioned about not being able to see the bottom hooks on a QH. The fact that so many QH owners end up having to get off the tractor anyway for one reason or another is why I felt the Pat’s system made the best since for me. Thanks for watching!

I went with Pat’s. I don’t really change implements often enough to justify but since I’m getting older I try to make thinks simpler. To be able to use on more implements I bought a handful of washers and drilled a hole in each and put in a vise and bent them ninety degrees with a large hammer. I used a grinder to open the holes like the original but I later found out if I was careful I could leave the connecting part of the hole and no cutting was required. I recommend to make a pattern washer with a small hole and keep it for locating the right spot for drilling additional washers.

That is the best video I've seen about the pros and cons of each system. As you may know, my 1962 Case came with the Eagle hitch system, which is basically the Pat's system. Only one detail, the width of the arms is fixed. Then I made a quick hitch and modified my implements to fit. So in my case, the QH is a better option. Nice video Martin! Thanks!

Well done, DIY. You hit the important pros/cons of each quick attach system and cost comparisons. I have the Harbor Freight quick hitch. All (but one) of my implements are quick hitch compatible. I chose Harbor Freight b/c of cost. I've had to deal with some issues. To reemphasize what you stated, folks MUST realize that all quick hitch compatible implements are NOT going to fit the quick hitch one chooses. There are numerous cases where some manufacturing detail/design of an implement prohibits a precise fit with the quick hitch. On the other hand, as you stated, if you purchase all same brand implements and use their recommended QH, the implements should all fit with ease. Example: Kubota sells a QH for their tractors (I think it's Landpride) and they also use Land Pride implements. Therefore, hookup and QH compatibility is smooth and w/o glitches (I think). Deere also has their own I-Match QH and Deere has 3 pt implements designed specifically for the I-Match QH. These are things a tractor owners should research prior to purchase of a QH and implements. I saved money and enjoy the my QH. Excellent video, Martin and explained very well. Have a fine week.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Don! Yes, indeed. You are right. When I was researching which to get, I noticed so many of the QH videos were about how people were having to modify them to work with their implements. I thought if I’m going to have to get off my tractor fairly often with a QH anyway, I might as well go with the Pat’s system which will work with any implement and requires no mods to implements. Stay safe and well!

I bought Pat's Easy Change with my Deere 5115M because it makes sense for the wide array of attachments that I own. I prefer flexibility. Plus I use a subframe 595 backhoe (OFTEN), so the 3 point comes off often, but the Pat's stays on the 3 point which is yet ANOTHER benefit of Pat's vs quick hitch. Once you install the Pats: you can just leave it on the lower arms, even when removing the lower arms from the tractor. Repeat: If you are taking the 3 point off frequently, the Pat's will be a lot less work. Install once and then it is just installing or de-installing the 3 point and inspecting the Pats.

Awesome video sir!! Was hoping somebody would make one like this BEFORE I started getting the tractor and implements. As an upcoming future first time tractor owner starting from scratch, I am leaning on the pats system as it’s universal fit ability will reduce one aspect of implement selection allowing more purchase options when implement shopping. Remember, a tractor is like a wife, when you find the right one, that’s great! The problem is the commitment you make into buying “accessories “ for your chosen one🤪👍

I have temporarily removed my Pat’s Quick hitch. I used a heavy blade behind my tractor and I think I had some slippage with the bolts on the hitch along with at least one of the adjustment bolts breaking. Removing the hitch was difficult because the treads near the end of the bolts were damaged. I uses a tap to clean and recut the threads in the hitch because they were damaged and I bought new bolts. When I reinstall the hitches I’m hoping to use something like 1/2” copper pipe cap on the end of the adjustment bolts. I’m hoping that will limit future damage to the bolts.

Pat's 210%. I've been using my pats for about 2 years it makes all the difference in the world, I have a 26hp compact tractor which is right in the sweet spot between small and large implements, and I have close to a dozen attachments, the auger and the crane arm aren't qh compatible, my ditcher is a class 0 all others are class 1 except my hogger is class 2, you can get pats in a class 2 configuration, but I just switched out my hogger pins for 7/8. Also I never run the locks or the crossbar and most of the time I don't run pats pin bushings just the stock snap pins work well enough and I've never had a problem.... I was going to weld washers on the end of the pins, but have never needed to.

Appreciate the information as always. My Land Pride attachments for my 3301L Kubota are quick hitch compatible, so I went with a quick hitch. However, after checking the current prices of a Land Pride quick hitch versus a Speeco CAT1 E-hitch to include shipping, I decided to go with the Speeco. The main advantage I saw with the Speeco 1 E-hitch model is that this specific model is built for CAT 1 instruments only and you do not have to switch out the lower lift arm pin connection pieces. I have no plans on purchasing any attachments that require a CAT II or larger lift arm pin connection so this was the right one for me. Since I just received the quick hitch a few days ago, I have yet to put it on my tractor. I am also not really looking forward to going out in the snow at this time and doing so. Keep up the great videos and Happy Holidays. I place my attachments on pallets and am hoping that with the extra height, I will not have any trouble seeing the lower clamps when connecting. Cheers

Hi Wayne! If your new tractor's 3-point is Cat 1, then I recommend you look at Speeco's Cat 1 quick hitch. Most quick hitches are Cat 2, requiring you to buy bushings for all your implements. Very helpful video did not realize how the locks worked until I watch your video still having trouble removing slop even with shims also on smaller radius three points angle may be difficult to adjust with the easy hitch. Also have a quick hitch but have combination of category one category two and category zero implements
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I’ve heard others comment that they had skinnier lift arms (probably a subcompact tractor) and had to order extra shims to get the the Pat’s hook bodies to stay in line with the lift arms without hanging at an angle. For most tractors, the small shim or the large shim, or a combination of both is enough. One advantage of quick hitch is that most of them are Cat 2, allowing you to use implement from Cat 0 to Cat 2 with the right bushings on the implements. Thanks for watching!

I have a Kubota B2650 with a backhoe and few older implements which I’ve had since my old Massey Ferguson 165 died. Hi Scotty! That’s a common mistake people make. A QH only works with QH compatible implements, which tend to be modern implements. Pat’s will work with any implement. Thanks for the encouraging words and for watching!

Thanks for your informative video covering the pros & cons of each system. I’m still trying to decide which system is right for my needs, but am leaning toward the Pat’s to increase my odds that future implements will fit (I don’t always buy new, and am not wedded to any manufacturer). I’m also concerned that hooking up PTO implements like my brush hog will be more difficult with a quick hitch in the way. I’m a fan of using nylon lock nuts on most machines & agree with your suggestion. I may also add a pair (or two) of washers/ spacers to eliminate movement (& rattle) between the Pat’s “eagle claw” & the supplied Pat’s washers & lynch pin. I also expect that the Pat’s system will require me to regularly check all components to ensure they’re tight, but to me, this is part of routine pre-operational inspection (just like checking tire pressure, lug nut & bolt torque, lubrication, etc.).

I sure wish I saw your video earlier this year. I bought a quick hitch soon after buying my tractor. Works great on implements like the rear blade, landscape rake, and carry-all. I later purchased a post hole digger and realized it's not compatible. I also later purchased several implements requiring a PTO shaft. While struggling to attach the PTO shaft around the quick hitch, I invented some new cuss words. I am ordering a Pat's Easy Change and will sell the quick hitch & box full of bushings, roll pins, etc.

Nice video, good explanation of the Pro's and Con's, etc. I don't recall the brands, but some online search will put you on the right track. I've seen them at least from Italian and German brands/stores. Probably there's more. Replace the conventional 3 point hitch arms, with arms with connectors similar to the pat's system. In fact I do believe it's even older than the Pat's. It's already integrated, no changes in length and such. Take one, put the other, done. No more U bolts adjustments, lengths, accessories, etc. Don't want to replace the arms, no worries. Just get the connector heads and weld them to your own 3 point arms. More work, but also cheaper. ;-) BTW they have for all categories. Cheers

I just went looking for the pros and cons of Pat's hitch and you hit a home run with the pros and cons . I myself have old implements through the years that were not quick hitch compatible so Pat's makes the most sense and like you said use a bungee cord to pull them in and adjust and you're good to go. The top link height and the width of the lower pins of the implements are all so different. I use a post hole digger about 10% of the time you made me realize I made the right purchase. I would like to see if they make a weld on Pat's easy hitch for one of my older tractors
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bob! Yes, it sounds like you absolutely made the right choice with you mix of older implements and a post hole digger too. I don’t think they make a weld on version, but I think you could probably adapt a set to be welded on. Thanks for watching!

Nice explanation of the hidden costs and additional things to consider beyond the hitch system itself. I can see how some people might overlook these other factors and then be surprised when it comes time to hook things up. Another part of the 3-pt hitch that I've been pondering is the horizontal draw bar that would go between the hooks. I've seen the bars that could be used such as with Pat's hooks and I've seen Quick Hitch designs that incorporate a bar or even a receiver sleeve. Have you considered doing a video on those items?

I do love my Pat’s system, EXCEPT when using my scraper blade. I have a Tractor Supply non-tilting and, when you try to change the angle using your adjustable link, the scraper pins bind in the Pat’s and don’t let you get much of an angle. (e.g. scraping ditch sides)

I chose the Pat's easy hitch. Mainly because of excessive wear on the balls of my side arms. They bolted up nice and tight. Have absolutely no trouble hooking up now, where as I did with some of the newer implements I have. For some reason the pins on the new stuff were slightly to big to fit on one side of lift arm. Both are cat 1. With the mix of equipment I have... some homemade, a quick hitch was never a consideration.

Thanks for the information! I recently changed from the Pat's system to a Titan QH after much consideration. Both definitely have their own advantages and disadvantages. Your information provided knowledge of possible upgrades to my Titan QH - the pins to replace the bolts for the top link hook available from Bolt On and once at their website I discovered that they also sell an extended version of the top link hood which should resolve another issue I am having with the QH. I ordered them this morning and suspect that when I receive them I will solve all of my issues. Thanks again!!!

Hi Raymond! I have seen several videos of people modifying their QH to use pins and when I searched for images to use, the pins that Ken sells came up. I also saw the extended hook they sell.
