After 35 years of camping, backpacking and hiking the first criteria I require is that the knife provides a secure grip with a guard of some sort for the index finger and effective jimping for the thumb. I like the looks of the Bugout but the ergos makes the Delica my knife of choice. Good comparison review. I am looking forward to more comparison reviews.

Delica all day. I despise the axis lock, as every Benchmade I've owned has broken. I like the full liners, and ergos of the Delica. Plus the price. The bugout should not be over $100 imo. Good review.

I'd love to see photos, it happens but it's quite rare, and multiple knives? That'd be a first I've ever seen. Even my heaviest BM the presidio 2 CF with a heavy blade on those springs has never had an issue. I know it happens though, but multiple? I just don't buy it. It's exaggerated an issue as people breaking tips off of delicas. Usually it's nonsense or someone abusing it to all hell.

I love my Bugout, and my 940. Also love my Para 2 and a Delica is my next buy. These are great knives, buy em all.

The Delica is great, but watch your index finger. Not as safe as the newer models Native5 or Para3. Still loves the Delica 4 to bits. Its great if you are careful :)

While I respect Benchmade, Spyderco has always produced models that fit my taste much better. Really like the Spydie hole, not a huge fan of the axis lock. I have many models from many different makers, but 99% of the time a Spyderco finds its way into my pocket...YMMV.

I suspect my most carried knife is a the Sage 5, I don't own many Benchmades as so many of them seem chunky, but not the bugout. Thanks for commenting, and I too really like the Sypderco design language.

A lot of people criticize the omega spring associated with the axis locks on the Benchmades, but I have 6 knives with the Benchmade Axis lock and haven't had a failure of an omega spring...yet. I have used the crap out of them as well. (Now that I've said that "out loud", it'll probably happen now...lol)

After carrying the Bugout for a few weeks I must say that the Bugout is now my preferred urban EDC. I didn't think I would like it much until I started carrying it. I have never liked any Spyderco but the Bugout did replace my Kershaw Dividend.

Huge spyderco fan but the Delica just doesn’t do it for me. I resisted buying a bugout for a year then I did a month ago and it is so snappy and so much better than I could of hoped for!

Bugout. Delica is 0.6 ounces heavier though. And I like the Bugout blade shape better. I had EDC'ed a Delica for the last 5 years! Just replaced it with the Bugout after Christmas.

Great video, like the rating system. I'll always favor the Delica it was one of my first knives, but I can see how the bugout got the win 👍.

Like my bugout, s30v is nice, axis lock & deep carry is a win but the delica is ergonomicaly superior and as a result provides better control in use. Your hand won't give a shit how sleek or nice your knife is after about 30+ minutes of use. Delica has a terrible pocket clip, has a wider profile in pocket. Bad combo for losing a knife. Lost mine, now own a bugout. Like the knife aside from the handles. not my favorite material. Can't go wrong with either. Although considering the quality issues I've been having with my past couple benchmades, personally think it's a bit overpriced. Should be slightly above the Delica imo. Around 90 bucks instead of 115. Delica goes for 65. Better value in the Delica as a knife for me. If you like to fidget with your knife, pay the extra for Benchmade axis lock. If you just want a utilitarian well made knife that feels amazing in hand, is relatively lightweight and robust. Spyderco.

I drop a deep carry clip on all my Delica, It’s a shame that Spyderco hasn’t revamped thier spoon clips, they are even worse when on something small like the Brower. Or just move everything to the wire clip. Thanks for swinging by
@antoinedoinell

Totally agree. The wire clip solves two problems. Deep carry/lightweight. Seems a no brainer for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers!

Am I the only person that doesn’t really like when the back of the knife handle is open where u can see the blade? I like a solid closed back handle,
@scottwitt7597
@scottwitt7597 5 жыл бұрын
I think you're the only one lol. I prefer an open back with posts. It's so much easier to clean, and is usually a bit lighter.
@beefcurtainz69
@beefcurtainz69 5 жыл бұрын
Scott Witt yeah I def can see that. I just feel like the closed back has more of a fuller grip if that makes sense, whereas the open I feel it’s not as much as a solid handle full feeling in the hand. Lol but I can totally understand the lightness and cleaning factor of the open style. I guess I’m just weird, maybe it’s just all in my head haha

Thanks, for this long shortcut! : - ) If I would have been judging this one. The Bugout would have won by a bit more. Both great knives though. Now throw a light weight Spyderco Manix 2 against this Bugout, and you'll have a different outcome.

I prefer the straighter overall profile of the Benchmade. I also prefer the axis lock. Not that there is anything wrong with a Delica, unless you need to take it apart. I had a mini-Griptilian for 12 years, never broke a spring. If you do, you can pick up a pair of them for 6 bucks on ebay. Not a fan of back-locks anymore, unless it's a Buck 110 where it is back far enough to be the hell out of the way of the grip!

I feel you cheated the bugout out of either carry or value you should either have judged the price of delica including the after market clip or judged the carry with original clip where 3/4 of an inch sticks outta the pocket. Also gotta take into consideration the warranties BM blows Spyderco outta the water can't beat LifeSharp, only big production companies that come close is ZT/Kershaw.
@ShortcutReviews
@ShortcutReviews 5 жыл бұрын
I did take into account the deep carry clip and the Delica is still cheaper with the aftermarket clip and with exception of the sharpening the warranties are the same, and I sharpen my own knives. But as always it only one persons opinion and thanks for checking the video out

@@ShortcutReviews true everyone can have own option. My main grievance with Spyderco is there company policy to never replace blades you can get a new blade from Benchmade for $20-35, break the tip off of your pm2 like I did and its like throwing $150 into the trash can

The base bugout model looks so cheap and so disgustingly flimsy that it's just beyond acceptable. So for me it's not fair to compare in the way you did. I actually have s90v CF bugout but it almost $300. May be if you take the 20cv delica with a LYNCHNW MOD 2 TITANIUM SCALE KIT it will be more fair. But I think that the result of such a comparison will depend only on the preferences of the person comparing.

Delica isn't even in the running less it's a sprint run, VG10 is mediocre steel these days. Beyond that the delica design is dated. Lockback stiff and boring, no sharpening Choil, PITAA to take apart. Benchmade warranty is superior. Bugout is just better all around. I own WAY more spydercos than Benchmades but the delica needs a total redesign, it's a relic. If it was $50 or something fine.. But at its current pricing it needs a new model, and definitely a better base steel and easier to find sprint runs.

Owned both. Spy has terrible blade ratio (on all their knives) and I don't like the lock. Bench is what I carry every day now. Love the axis lock. Spy does a similar lock on one of their knives, but just not as refined. In my Opinion.

I do think the spyderco is slightly more ergo in a saber grip, but the Bugout has been spending more time in my pocket lately.

Good review @@ShortcutReviews I agree, spy has a more ergo grip. Bench is not offensive in grip but not special either. Bench shines in blade ratio, flippability and is soooooooo light. I think your review was very fair :-)

Only thing I would disagree is a tie on the lock. Axis one hand flip open and close all the way!

1) Benchmade s30v is way better than Spydercos. 2)you have an aftermarket deep carry clip on Delica. 535 comes with it. Again another win. Long story fast 535 all day.

Better yet, the S30v Delica, still cheaper than the bugout and about the same with a deep clip. But I will say the Bugout with aftermarket CF is a different beast
