If you're an fl user and dont have serum then you're in luck. (although i think most people have that plugin its amazing.) Open ya boi sytrus. Select default preset. Go to the first oscillator Move the shape knob to around 10% Turn the freq ratio to one Smack it into a mixer track. High cut it Put a wave shaper on it and just move the curve upwards. Boom a pretty nice sub. You can do that in ableton too but i dont see sytrus in ableton alot.

nice sub bass you got there! One trick I learned from a certain puppet producer is to send your sub to 2 different distortion (one full, one mid frequencies only) and pan them 5 right and 5 left from the center to create some really full sounds without getting in the way of anything in the center. you can also send your kick over a bit too for that bigger thud.

@mynameskobe68384 жыл бұрын
Theres a kinda similar method from Kermode by using 2 sine waves, the second on an octave up but only using the 3rd harmonic of the fundamental. You then turn random off and use phase shifting to make the peak amplitude of the wave longer which makes the sound louder to people without having to increase amplitude. Essentially fat sub, save headroom.

ok so noob question I assume, Im using fl and serum, and im fairly new to this whole sub bass concept but how come it sounds so much different when coming out of FL than it does while watching the video. Ive noticed this for a lot of videos, and even when listening to music on here, the weird part is (I know I shouldn't be doing it) im using beats studios which im told are bass boosted so why does the bass actually sound like bass in this tutorial but when I replicate it in FL, it sounds nothing like it?

Hello! I followed this tutorial and everything came out sounding great, however I'm having hard time getting the sub bass in tune with my track. When I use the semitone, fine, and CRS parameters in the wavetable section to change the pitch I lose the quality of the bass sound. I slapped on an ableton pitch device but I am only able to change in semitones and I can't fine tune it. Any other suggestions?

Hey this is sick bro, how did you find this technique!!? I'm just wondering if like most big producers these days are using this type of thing for production... Also have a question: Say I want another bass sound to be the prominent voice in the track, at what frequencies should I cut/blend this sub bass and introduce the main bass with all the character? Most people say 100hz below for sub, but is it like a steep cut, or..?

@barfin53515 жыл бұрын
@@Tyler-ko8dp ye sub hits 30-40 hz, use a freq analyser. 'bass' i.e. mids hittin anywhere from 80hz to the high end of the spectrum. kick 70-120hz, or use 2 one for low end punch and one for hi end. snare 150-250hz. most other things high passed at 300hz. use sidechaining to push lower freqs down with kick n snare. use your ears for the steepness of the cut, and use a freq analyser on the whole track to emulate the kind of tracks/genre you are creating. i would say use a low cut i.e. steeper on the kick, a shallower pass on the snare possibly, possibly not, and defo a shallower pass on the rest of the mix
@Tyler-ko8dp5 жыл бұрын
@@barfin5351 I pretty much do all of this, but I'm struggling: In a song where I will use a sub and a mid, I will cut sub off at 80hz quite steep, then a slow slope upwards for mid bass around 150hz but they just don't gel together, I've tried changing volume mix, compressing them, removing some muddyness around the 150-200hz region on the mid bass, but nothing seems to gel the basses together. I've tried lowering the highpass on the mid bass to like 100hz but then it completely muddies up the bottom. Then when I have a song that's primarily 1 sub bass I will add saturation for harmonics and not even eq it, just let it naturally slope off, which sounds cool, but I really can't get my mixes to gel together. I don't add space to my sub, but I try to widen my mid bass, second claps or snares, sometimes hats.
@barfin53515 жыл бұрын
@@Tyler-ko8dp some sounds/riffs dont gel together, usually its the notes. write a tune in a key. get a graph of what notes = what hz. using pitch shift, a freq analyser and an eq for frequency attentuation make the kick and snares in key, i.e. if tack is C major, you could have 2 kicks in C and E and as well as 2 snares in same notes. the the sub note could be G (as sounds too obvious when the sub note is the root note of the chord, more intriguing when its not. also G1 = 49hz which is apparently the 'purest' sub, definitely rattles the cones : ). Provided the mids are in key and the notes either harmonise / follow the sub's notes progression - they should gel together nicely even without eq. i often use the same notes for the mids as the sub, its just nice to have a clean sub for actual bass, and then some mids which can be distorted heavily. the whole track should sound nice at a low volume even if u take all the mix-cleaning eq's off [especially if using sidechaining], just when u turn it up all the low end distortions become evident and muddy.

You have to be really careful when adding harmonics on top of your sub. The more frequencies you have closer to the fundamental of your sub, the more it will effect the phase of the sun and the less the true sub will come through on a big sound system like you find at clubs and festivals.
