I remember making something like this at a cub scout camp back in the late 1970s. I'm sure the flour was whatever they sold at the supermarket and not barley but it was definitely fun!

That's great! It's definitely kid friendly, my daughter loves helping me make it

I’ll definitely give this a go. Have you tried it with Emmer flour or spelt flour?

I made these (or something very similar) a lot last summer when I was 'camping' at a friend's place in their ancient RV. I made it with barley flour, oat flour, and rye flour, as well as mixing those. I also tried it once with more water so it was 'pancake' consistency and tried cooking it like a pancake - absolutely horrid. NOT the way to go. These ARE asy and tasty. My favourite is the rye one. But I'm German, so. :)

Oooh a pancake one does NOT fill me with hope, I'll take your word for it that they weren't great! Haven't tried these with rye but willing to give them a go, thanks!

Have you read the books? They're great! I also agree for the reasoning behind watching it 😍😂

It's a lot like Indian fry bread, but they would bake in the fire.

Interesting! I think there are many versions of this in lots of different cultures - they remind me of pitta breads a little (despite the lack of yeast) - just denser.
