There's just something about Oak that I've always liked. Especially when it's in huge pieces like this. It even looks majestic just lying on the trailer. Screams strength and beauty. No matter how much mankind thinks it's clever, Mother Nature always has something up her sleeve to out do us! I bet these garages will still be here, strong and stout, long after mankind has wiped itself out.

Its great fun when you drop it on your feet, and the splinters you get off it are next level, it blunts your tools. But when you clean it up there is nothing more beautiful than Oak, Ive sold a lot of soft wood in my time, never had to sell Oak, people just buy it, and often find a way to afford it, even though they intended to go with SW. once they see Oak, its difficult to resist, nice coat of 2 of Osmo, and the oak does the rest

This is my favourite channel for good reason. Looking forward to seeing those oak beams going up. Reminds me of France where they have oak only sawmills, when you go and buy some they ask you how old do you want it, 3 years, 5, 10. Thanks for sharing.

Hugely enjoyable series so far! The brick and lovely timber work is going to make these so much more than a utilitarian box - I’d love to see a sketch/plan of the final build to get a sense of how it will look. Hope you had an awesome Christmas and thanks for the amazing videos - all the best!

What bricks did you use on these garages?

yes

must just be a UK thing but ive noticed you guys always build your wall framing or roof framing structure on top of blockwork. do you guys ever have full height frames with your frames just sitting hard on the concrete slab/foundation?
@samuelmoore6577 сағат бұрын
hi robin, what height do you like your saw horses to be at? making some of my own at the minute
@ukconstruction7 сағат бұрын
Make them taller say 800 to 900 and you can always cut them down, mine are about 750
@barrieheard94266 сағат бұрын
Old boys used to make them knee hight, so could kneel down on wood to saw. But not good for your back as bent over to much. 900 is best for your back. But if you are using them for riping sheet materials hard to reach over. I find between knee and waist height is sweet spot for your hight. Hope this helps.

Can I please ask why there are two garages and why they are that shape? What will be their function when completed?
