Totally agree about passive fits - I love my Guristas ships but never run passive...it's boring! Also yep good call on the C3-X, pricey but complements Guristas nicely. You also get into that decision..do I use another dmg mod instead of shield recharge etc in the low and have 'rat removal rate' as tank, or just rely on actual tank. Kill them faster and they do less damage...always an interesting decision. I also personally use an AB on my Abyssal ships as I don't race around collecting loot, just permanent AB to cache then gate and to allow fast orbit and no scram issues. You really don't need a MWD IMHO. Finally..in the words of my super-experienced FC..."FOCUS FIRE, STOP SPLITTING DPS!!!". To go to extremes...split 5 drones/guns onto 5 different ships...take 5 ships worth of damage the ENTIRE time. Focus on ONE ship..take 5 ships worth of dmg for short time, then 4, then 3 etc etc. You get the idea ;). And yea if you had AB instead of MWD you could focus dmg-dealing rats and not worry so much about being scrammed. Just my 0.02c to help ya out :)

Prices will vary day to day, but T2 Gammas have been cheaper than Electrical for a while, and probably a bit easier to run with a Mamba (T2s in general are all pretty cheap, so pick your fave). Ultimately, it's going to depend on what the 'real' price of the Mamba is. Unless it's quite a bit cheaper than a Gila, it's hard to justify it (or, if you really want a Dessy, something like a Jackdaw).

Yeah, Electrics are always so expensive which is why I try to avoid them. As for cost, as I say, not everyone wants to fly a Gila. As much as I love Guristas, the Gila bores me something chronic, and not everyone wants Cruiser skills. Edit: In fact, the guy above you literally says his Alpha just skill capped as he topped off Destroyer skills. So for him, Gila is out of reach.

could add like one hardener, would enhance the tank by alot and wouldnt hurt capacitor that much too, have it on at all times and you are going to passively regen more hp than your current fit (optimal passive regen focus is always 2 hardener as primary goal, 4 extender as secondary, and 1 mid slot recharger as tertiary but you can play around with it, fit extender if you worry capacitor) [Mamba, Passive Mamba] Dread Guristas Shield Flux Coil C3-X 'Hivaa Saitsuo' Ballistic Control System Thukker Small Shield Extender Caldari Navy Multispectrum Shield Hardener Thukker Small Shield Extender 5MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II [Empty High slot] Small Core Defense Field Purger II Small Core Defense Field Purger II Small Core Defense Field Purger II Hobgoblin II x10 Inferno Fury Light Missile x4484 Inferno Precision Light Missile x2000 Scourge Fury Light Missile x3180 modified fit, change caldari navy hardener to compact if price is a concern, as a kiter you should be far in range from neuts so capacitor isnt really a concern for fast ships like that, focus out the drainer/starving first if you are concerned, pulse the mwd if mwd usage is needed, fight at range and loot after rats are dead, stay at a range and you will have the tank necessary and always keep the hardener on as best as you can

No. Scrams switch off MWDs but do nothing to ABs.

Thanks for revisiting this hull. I'm very interested in 'polishing the edge' of my experience with it when I'm finally able to undock one. With the active fit, an AB was used. And with this a MWD. Is the MWD mandatory, or could one get away with an upgrade AB?

You need to be in a fleet (even if just with yourself) and use the Filaments from your cargo. One for a cruiser, two for a destroyer, three for a frigate

What makes a ship more suitable for passive shield tank vs active?

They often have good Amount of low slots as well as strong medium slot layout so you can fit rechargers etc in the lows in addition to shield extenders and hardeners. They also profit from strong resistance bonuses and large base shield HP, as guristas do. I abstain from tanking anything smaller than a cruiser with a passive fit as it’s very module/slot intensive but it works, as proven here by benzie

An active tank you can overheat for 30% more effectiveness of the modules, a passive tank does not use capacitor but it will break when your shield hit points go below 25% (not sure on the exact number), its a dance around the edge because your regeneration is at the highest point before it falls off and then you are basicly dead if you have not removed the dps like you have seen in the first room.

As stated below. But the main reason here to use passive is low capacitor and low PG so can't support an oversized booster, coupled with very large base Shield HP.

passive show case nice. just curious why you prefer flux coil over power relay? i take it's because you use MWD and prefer having cap? hehe i guess i use an AB and thats why i prefer running a power relay, cap isnt an issue, we get more total shields and regen, its minor increase to regen, but atleast it doesnt reduce total shields. apart from that, glad to see its gonna breeze through gamma t2. thats what i was hoping to upgrade too. my alpha just reached 5m skill points yesterday and getting destroyers upgraded was his last things hehe, i doubt he will be able to reach gila any time soon.

Talking about risks... Imagine joining a nullsec alliance, buying a porp, undocking it... and lose it 15 minutes later to a fleet of bombers what happened to pick me as their target There goes 360 mill isk What i learned from it? Avoid busy systems, and make the fit cheaper. Havent lost it since, and even if i do, i made its cost back almost completely. But i will switch to a mackinaw once i have the skills for t2 mining crystals Yes i am a dedicated miner/indy guy now

I just logged out for a day, I lost a ship, and spent 2m on 16 blasters in the station I was in and nothing shows up in my assets or item hanger. Not gonna lie I'm a bit pissed about it.

Then I did it again and still nothing showed up in assets or in the item hanger and my isk wasn't returned. I bought it from a supply of 138. Game says both transactions completed but I got no product both tries.
