Wow, spectacular conditions! Almost all of my portfolio images are in objectively “bad” weather. Anytime the forecast calls for snow, fog, or rain… that’s the time to get out there! Really beautiful work!

You are one of the very best on You Tube. You not only talk sense but your images are quality too. Thinking of ditching my Nikon z and adding an XT-5 to my x-pro and alligning my lenses.Just need courage as I’ve had a big Nikon forever.

Thanks for the comment Mark, glad you enjoy the videos. The Nikon Z cameras are excellent, so I’m not going to encourage you to switch, but I can say I still love the Fuji system 🙂

I know megapixels aren't everything, light and editing have a huge role to play in sharpness and our perception of detail... but goddamn, those GFX100S images look infinitely detailed.
@AndyMumford Жыл бұрын
It has to be said, there's something about the files that really does look nice. The files in this video are downscaled to 4000 pixels along the longest edge, so about 20mp, but you can still see a difference

Some of my best Mountain photos have been in bad weather. Often, if you can showcase 1 sub peak or rocky outcropping emerging from the clouds and fog, it makes the mountain seem even more immense than it would in clear weather. Leave it to the imagination!

It's also precarious to urinate on high, frozen peaks 'Willy on a Mountain' 😁

Yeah, I love the way the low clouds interact with mountains. The potential is infinite

Sometimes you just need half an hour with a bit of the light shining through on a really murky day and it can make for an epic scene. They are often dramatic style photos that I love you don’t need much like you just need 20 minutes or so of epic life and you can get some great photos. You might get rained out for the rest of the day, but you will get some epic shots.

Your aerial footage is so beautiful, Andy. I've recently upgraded to the Mavic 3 Classic, but wonder if you've considered the Mini 3 Pro, given how weight is such a huge factor in your adventures. Take care, mate, and greetings from Australia.
@AndyMumford Жыл бұрын
I have looked at it, and it is very good. But while the video footage is outstanding for a drone on that size, the still images are significantly lacking in my opinion. Just been using the Mavic 3 Classic while travelling and it’s an excellent drone

Thanks so much for the comment. I actually recorded this video back in October and the XT5 hadn’t been launched yet.

So you had no problem shooting with the non-weather-resustant xf55-200 in the inclement weather? I'm thinking of having a Viltrox 13 1.4 xf for mountain photography, also nonWR, is there an alarm with that?
@AndyMumford Жыл бұрын
I’ve used the Viltrox a lot in bad weather and it’s fine

Thank you for these wonderful images and information. I would be curious to know with which camera you took these shots? I seem to have seen an X-H2, if so did you notice a difference with the X-T4? One last question if you have time. Did you use Fuji film simulations or is it processing on retouching software? Thank you again and good luck.
@AndyMumford Жыл бұрын
I put the camera, lens and exposure on the bottom left of each image in the video. The images were shot with a GFX100S and XT4. Since I recorded this video I've switched the XT4 with an XT5. Non of the images are shot with film simulations, all are RAW images edited in Lightroom
