The necklaces are beautiful, but you got really ripped off on that rose quartz :/ I used to work at a store that sold stones, and I would expect a piece like that to cost maybe $5. All types of quartz (rose quartz, amethyst, citrine, etc) are usually cheap because they're so common.

I totally love this series, and appreciate you showing both sides. I just wish you would approach the dupes in a more positive way. You went into the DIY already hating and disregarding the idea, just because it wasn't real gold. I actually liked the way both of them came out, and Becky was right, they came out really similar to each other. Give your self some credit when it comes to DIYing with less expensive material. Not everyone can afford to buy the real gold, and it would be nice to see some enthusiasm for attempting the alternatives. I love reusing my old jewelry to make newer, and more trendier ones. I have no shame in doing it and take pride in saying I made it myself. It can be tedious, especially the small pieces, but it's fun and allows me to showcase my creativity. Thank you for providing the content and inspiration people like myself need, to DIYing on a budget.
