That table is nice.......really nice. I love the replaceable pieces. I was going to make a cutting table out of some walkway grating.....probably just trashed that idea. If I do still make it....the grate is going to be replaceable.....for sure.

With the support strips, the pointy ones, would it not make more sense to have the points alternating/offset alignment? If you do a cut that happens to align with the points you run the risk of burning them all off in that line. Alternating or offset points would only risk burning of ever second and then require replacing less often. CNC laser tables have a mesh that doesn't line up with any straight lines and can be cut to almost nothing before needing replacement.

Looks super cool. Make sure when you mount the plasma cutter that you isolate the machine from the metal structure so that the electronics in the cutter don’t fry- they would in a welder, but idk about a plasma cutter.

A funnel shape on the bottom should make it easier to clean. Now the 4 plates at each corner will collect a lot off the sparks. As always a nice vid. Keep up the good work! Greetings from Belgium.

Speaking from experience, i do NOT like the pointed gates.... they are a total pos and a huge issue when trying to plasma cut a small piece... the material does not like to lay flat on them and you are stuck cutting a large plate... if it were non-pointed gates the table would be great for any hobiest though. i really hope they fix that for regular production before they mass produce them. Suggestion, weld a belly to it about 3" deep just under the gates and fill it with distilled water so it helps prevent rust. itll keep a LT of the sparks from bouncing around on the floor of your shop and contain most of the mess. If you make the water pan about 612" under the gates it'll catch it and wont splash back at you as much. another great video like always Kyle, keep up the great work and congrats on all the backers/sponsors to the channel!

I wonder how you can tig weld so clean over the mill scale, I'm having some issues trying to weld over some laser cut plates, if I don't clean my piece and try to tack it, my weld looks terrible.. are you using tungsten rod? or are you tacking only over the expose metal created by the laser cut?

It's a damned shame they didn't make a solid bottom and sides so you could use it as a water table. I too work out of a small shop and when using the plasma one of my major concerns is catching something on fire. My next table will be a water table, without question.
@Thefabforums7 жыл бұрын
yeah I think they are going to offer a pan but it most like wont hold water.

Fab Forums, I have an 8' long welding table, I made it with 1/2"x 6" bar stock, I drilled and tapped holes, in each bar and spaced the bars 1" apart to have additional clamping areas. Below this I have two toolboxes mounted to hold all of my metal tools, but the one thing I didn't take into consideration is how much crap that was going to fall between these spaces. It covered my toolboxes, and migrated into the drawers, what a mess. I finally make a shit tray to go under the work surface, it works but is still a mess and small tools will inevitably fall into it as well. Now this is the second welding table I have built, and although I took care of some of the issues from the first one, I am now left with new issues, the next one will be a certi-flat that I will modify to deal with this. The point is nothing is perfect, but us fabricators just keep trying to make it better, it's a never ending situation.

I wouldn't clear coat the table, it will mess with the ground when trying to use it for welding, that is kind of the point with that table, if anything just spray some WD40 on it, you can always wipe that off if need be,

If people can't add any thing constructive . Good table could do with a down draft attachment . Im assuming that certi are sending this out for the peopl to add ideas.Time is money why completely make something like this your self that would take 3/4 hours to draw up then pay someone to profile it when you can get it in a kit that you just weld your self half the money and time .

@rwells33767 жыл бұрын
Mr. Ski, I too am a fabricator, and I have built two welding tables for myself, but the next one will be purchased from someone like cert-flat. With all things you do in a work environment there is a cost/benefit analysis that must be done, and it is too costly to use your time for something that can be purchased for half the investment. You are better off using your time for the one off, or small run jobs that make it profitable for you. With your thought process, you would say that a plasma cutter is an unneeded expense and that we should use the torch or saws. I hope you see my point, I'm not trying to insult you in any way.
@michealhiggins67067 жыл бұрын
That is a nice table I️ take I️t they are not selling them yet and the guy with the fabricator comment might want to take an English class haters gonna hate super cool videos keep them coming
@TheScaryName7 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what you're fabricating doesn't it? We built our own tables as well, but they were like 1.5 x 3 meters (4.5x9 ft) of 10mm (0,4") warm rolled steel sheet on a frame (Yes we wanted the oxidization, as welds tends to not stick to it) . We didn't need 2000 holes in them, because we made mostly gates and doorways and shit...if I needed a table with infinite clamping possibilities I sure as hell wouldn't make it myself.
@michealhiggins67067 жыл бұрын
Can’t works much better but we are getting off topic for what this gentleman is trying show everyone like I said haters gonna hate
