Luke if your worried about the bricks cracking the glass you can lay down some egg crate plastic along the bottom of the tank. People who have tanks full off rocks with cichlids do that to evenly disperse the weight. Or honestly sand does the same thing.

I used to have the same turtle and we had him for a few years from hatchling to the point where he grew as big as a turkey platter. We ended up giving him to Sarasota Jungle Gardens since they had an outdoor turtle enclosure and he continued to grow big enough where it was a struggle for the workers to pick him up so we could see him whenever we visited in the passing years. Just saying, these guys will outgrow any tank you can pretty much think of unfortunately. They really don't stop growing.

Hey Luke, I have to see that you your snapping turtle are growing so fast. I actually have one of my own and his or her name Tyrone. Tyrone is a bit older than your by a year but he is getting bigger by the day and he enjoys or like seeing me every day asking me for food and he trust me, but thinks my fingers are food 😅. I have him in a tank but will soon move to a larger tank and I’m happy to see that your turtle look healthy and great 😊

I think if the glass is completely supported with a thick plywood, might be ok?? But I definitely would not have risked it. Even the small unevenness in the brick under the slate can crack the bottom 😮

I've raised common snappers several times in my life and have only one right now, and she's 17 years old and weighed 23pounds just a few weeks ago... Those turtles you have do not look like common snapping turtles to me... Not the ones in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, or Missouri anyway.... They look more like a Map or type of mud turtle to me.... I too have found eggs in a ravaged nest on gravel bars on the Gasconade River and also in Third Creek by Cooper Hill Mo... I've probably had 16 to 20 snappers as pets throughout my life and have had ONE that was semi docile, and those turtles you have are drugged if they're actually snappers.... never saw anything quite like that.... Alligator snappers are way more docile than common snappers... Common snappers are just naturally given an attitude by Mother Nature that is with them from day one... I can hand feed Lucy, but I wear a leather welding glove because she's not super precise on taking it from me without taking a little more than just the food.
