I'm glad it's not just me that spends 1-2 hours depending on the project just to cut the pattern and the fabric. I always feel like I take forever!

I saw someone not too long ago pin the rough cut pattern to the fabric and essentially cut them out at the same time. I may try that to see if it is faster!

Awesome result! I had the same fit issue in the shoulders/neckline. I ended up altering the design to "fix" it by putting a few little pleats in the front neckline. It does make the neckline a little smaller, but also pulls everything toward the center :)

Hey l like that idea on unfinished projects. Making a list and the roll of the dice. I have what l call old old unfinished and old new ones I have been working on getting out of my way for 2 yrs now. But in my defense for 5 yrs l had to take care of my Mother after my Father passed. And now that Mom this gone l have be able to get back to them.

Watching the changes you made, I think part of the fit issue is that the under pinnings... the bras... were different in the 1950's. That makes the fit significantly different in that area. Ultimately, you did a fabulous job. If you made the dress again, I wonder if a slick lining fabric might work better for the skirt portion.

Thank you! Although the original pattern is from the 1950's, this is a reproduction. I'm not sure the underpinnings would come into play, but who knows! You're probably right about the lining, but I doubt I will be making this one again. It was fun, though!

I am waiting for the Butterick patterns to be on sale at Joanne's for $1.99. Last week they had Simplicity on sale for $1.99. I have a employee contact who let's me knew when the patterns are on sale.

Thank you! There's definitely a sizing issue. I don't know about the original pattern, since this is a reproduction, but everyone I have watched had to adjust the fit. The pattern itself is super simple.
