There's a few things I forgot to include. The threading kit recommends soaking the wood in oil. Yes it does help. Do it. But also different woods cut better than others. Tight grain works really good. Experiment

Thanks I just got the wood versions instead of the plastic ones on Amazon. Was debating if I needed to make my own cutters on not. As a start I will work with what came with them but in the end I may make my own cutter. Still wish they made a bigger one though..

@@Juan-hr7ol Currently the biggest available is 1 1/2" I would really like 1 3/4, 2, 2 1/4, 2 1/2 but really think I can live with just the 2 1/2 for a leg vise. Keep thinking I'm just going to have to make my own. You can buy one from Germany but what they want is way out of the price range I want to pay for it. For me the die looks to be the easier part to make it is the tap that I'm not so sure of.. But honestly I'm out a bit before I need to worry about needing the bigger ones. I'll figure it out when I get to the point I need to make that vise. may end up buying the screw verses trying to make it myself. For most shop stuff these will work fine for.

@rdjack21 Yea unfortunately once you start getting up past 1-1/2 inches they want an arm and a leg for the taps. I'd like one myself. Maybe I'll see if I can make one on a lathe later seeing as how I want a lathe anyway. Good luck. Let us know if you find a cheaper alternative for the tap.

@@Juan-hr7ol I've seen a video ( sorry don't remember the name) where they made the die first and cut the threads into a dowel then used that to make a tap buy wedging a cutter through the cut dowel. This will only work on bigger diameter screws as the smaller ones just don't have the space to wedge a cutter into them.

Yea I think I saw a similar video on it. Might have to resort to that if I don't find anything else. Still looking though.
