Making your own hoops.mov

This video is for those who want to learn how to make their own custom made hoops. This way they can start practicing my lessons of hoop dancing. The reason I'm showing how to use pex piping is that it has some give and hoop are very durable and they are quick and easy to work with. Enjoy, any questions just message me. Later.

another awesome video, some cultlures frown on this kind of teaching, they say we should personally learn from established dancers etc. but I applaud it, people like myself would never learn otherwise and where I live getting or finding an elder to show us things is almost impossible, they are around but very inaccessible, just the way things are now...keep up the videos

Do you go around twice with the electrical tape or just once around. Other than that I really appreciate the tutorial, great work👍

Have you tried the new fancy colored duct tape? I'm wondering can that be used instead of the electrical? Also where are you located?

+tattoodboop It doesnt have the same kind of texture as electrical. Its also normally quite wide and you'll find you'll have bubbles all over. Also when you need to retape your hoops, the glue on duct tape will be harder to remove. I personally use dowels that are threaded and then super/hot glue them into place.

I got a 1/2 wide by 3/8 thickness in plex pipe form my local hardware store but the hoop is not thick enough to be sturdy. What thickness would you recommend?

+CC 1/2" its about as thick as your thumb. that should be all you need. It comes in roles of 100 and 250, red, white and blue. You can buy them from home depot

Can you give us a tutorial on how to exactly put the tape on? Does it go all the way around? I see your red tape on the other hoops how many red stripes to put on each hoop and how far apart are they spaced? Also will that be on top of the tape that is all the way around?

When you're putting on your first, or base wrapping of tape, you'll go right around the hoop completely. When putting on additional colours of tape, that will be your own preference. Spacing will be your choice too. I eyeball the spacing. You really don't have to put additional colours on either. Just a white or yellow would be good. Hope this helps out.

No problem. I'm 6'2, I measure my hoops at 6'4. When measuring your hoops just make sure that your shoulders and upper body can move through the hoops comfortably, but keep this in mind don't measure them too large and because then it affects your they way they look when making your designs. You just have to make them, play with them and you'll come to see what I'm talking about. Good luck.
