Learn to Play Clarinet Scales: Bb Major

This is incredibly helpful. I'm returning to playing the clarinet for the first time in 18 years, and I NEED a major refresher. I played clarinet in 6th grade through 11th grade, but other than my recent high school band alumni night, I haven't really played since then. I just brought me another clarinet and am starting all over again. I am surprised by how much I do remember, though, after nearly 20 years. I'm so thankful KZbin tutorials exist now.

Hi lcswifey, if you watch our C# minor scale video it will have the same fingerings as the Db minor scale but the note names will be different. If this is too confusing let me know and I'm sure we can put something together for you!

There is no such scale. Db minor would need a double flat in the key signature.

This is because the clarinet is a Bb instrument. That means when someone plays a C on the clarinet, it actually sounds like a Bb. So every note played on the clarinet will sound a whole step lower on a C instrument (like the piano).
