I have an 80 year old neighbour who's still pretty fit and a keen gardener. He does struggle though with a heavy self propelled petrol mower. I think one of these would be ideal for him so I'll get him to watch your excellent review. I think his current mower weighs in at about 37k.

I made the jump to a robot lawnmower 6 years ago. I would never waste my time doing the lawn ever again. I kept my petrol mower, and I’ve had to use it twice in 6 years due to issues with the robot. Plus my lawn looks good every day, not like crap half the week because it’s grown like mad all week and I haven’t had the time to mow it.

@@aaanton11 I have had a Robomow MS1800 for the last 6 years, and it finally had some expensive motor problem, so I decided to just go for a baby Husqvarna Automower 105, it's their cheap and cheerful entry model, and so far, it's working really fine. I will say that I was not the first into the robot mower scene, but I could never go back, and you will find that after a few weeks, you will end up will a prettier lawn. I was surprised at how much it got mine free from weeds, moss and bald areas. A whole season with one mowing every day gives a really nice result. It's a challenge if you like stripes though. I believe Bosch does one that can do stripes, but no idea how good it is.

The DC18SH is the older brother to the DC18RD the RD is the 'fast charger" that's why it took long :)

@@aaanton11 I just found it out. I am looking to buy the lawnmower. On webshops it's 80-100 euro cheaper than in my hardware store. I noticed that the production code is exactly the same but at the end there are 2 letters difference After comparing everything i found out it was the fast charger that makes the difference in price!

As mentiond, it's 18650 cells, won't care as long as you don't leave them empty, then makitas bms might brick them over long storage. My oldest 3ah is from 2008, still fine.

@@Iceeeen . Almost every private buyer will leave these for 5 months of the year at various stages of discharge, just seems much more expensive than a standard electric mower.

​@@bordersw1239The quality of the batteries and chargers are why all my gear is Makita. I lost a 4ah battery at work 4 years ago, found it 3 months ago in a box of cable. it was dead flat but i popped it on the charger and it works as well as my other 4ah's🤷🏻 I heard the chargers are the only ones that properly condition (including fan cooling the batteries when they are too hot to start charging) they apparently balance the cells too🤷🏻 The reason why there are people saying tool batteries don't last, is other brands don't care if the batteries fail after a few years and many of their chargers don't condition the batteries. Downside is, a lot of Makita tools aren't always as good as milwauke festool etc, but the battery system is miles better👍
