Makita have finally mad a compact 5Ah battery, but there is a catch, it's on the 12v CXT tool line... So does this mean that Makita are about to release some newer more power hungry 12v tools? Let's hope so.

CXT needed a fresh update. I’ve got well over a grand or two invested in CXT and only a couple tools see daylight every once in a great while. It wasn’t always like that either. My CXT sds hammer drill was once my pride and joy for installing pipe hangers but I just got sick of swapping batteries every five minutes no lie. The other big names have a proper line of 12v tools for the commercial/industrial work site. Why not my favorite and most trusted brand? We’re lucky 18v LXT is even still supported well after the XGT launch lol.

I personally think Makita should just abandon their 12v and focus on good, subcompact 18v batteries and tools. Makita’s subcompact 18v using a 2ah battery is already about the same size as Dewalt’s 12v line.

The little white screw cover can’t invalidate the warranty for US customers. Magnuson Moss Warranty Act makes any ‘warranty void if removed ‘ pieces illegal and will even reimburse your legal fees in pursuing the issue if it comes up. Sorry to be technical but I’ve had a few bosses over the years try to stop us from fixing basic issues over concerns of warranties and informing them with their rights has always helped.

LXT subcompact offered a nice line of smaller and lighter tools but CXT gets even smaller and lighter than that. LXT offers a great line of massive and powerful tools but XGT gets even more massive and powerful than that. We have 2 platforms designed to be the best in their class and remain future proof. I love my LXT tools and the platform has some potential left sure, but Makita has a house full of framed XGT pictures. Their trip to Tahiti. Their first date, their first kiss. Makita still might invite LXT over for a cookout now and then and maybe even make slight hints that they might one day get back together, but LXT knows it’s time to move on lol
@kenshirogenjuro873
@kenshirogenjuro873 Ай бұрын
Awesome to see, I love my CXTs but definitely wish Makita would make more, there's no shortage of potential compact applications they could make. In particular a Dremel, a soldering iron, maybe also miniature offset routers and angled attachment driver kits like Bosch has. Oh, and an updated brushless circular saw is honestly long overdue. Those would all be swank. Part of why I think they continue to hesitate on bigger LXT batteries (besides simply putting more emphasis on XGT) is there are so many pre-existing LXT tools where the existing batteries are already a snug fit, especially with their many X2 tools. Some won't fit the thickness of 3-layer 18650s while others won't fit the larger footprints of 21700s. XGT on the other hand was designed with 21700s already in mind. Another consideration is that while the increased current output of larger batteries may offer more performance, they could also cause premature tool failure as they were QC'd with nothing larger than 5x2 packs of 18650s. I lamented quite a bit about not getting larger batteries on LXT when XGT was hitting the scene. But I haven't been building as much of late so I've been less concerned. If I still were though, I think I'd just use those huge back-pack sized things with the adapters on the few tools where I'd like the extra battery life and call it good.

Not a real problem for open space 2x18V battery tools. They can rotate 3 cells 90° just like on these 10.8V packs, and add 2 cells on a second row. This wey the 18V packs can even be 20mm shorter and 2mm less wide, 70mm instead of 90 ( 5 x18) for lenght and 63mm ( 3x21) instead of 65mm for width that counts more. If the cells are packed in a zig-zag intercalated wey, the height can be similar or only a few mm bigger. But F or tabless cells are needed. And new tools for both 18V and 12max. DDF457 plastic case is wey too thin and to compete with GSR 18V-55 and DCD800 it needs 4 Nm more soft torque @ higher RPM for both speed 1 and 2, so it needs a lot more amps. Same for DF332 that is 9 or 10 years old and has too stiff torque setting ring. Makita needs to bring high output F battery packs with tabless cells. And for old tools on 14.4V they need new packs that first thing first are much more afordable, even some 2.5Ah or even 2Ah compact, but not 1.4-1.5, and for 30-35 USD retail.

It’s amazing how overpriced batteries are. The cells are very cheap.

Team reds best for plumbers and dewalts a close 2nd for chippies i rate it as best value. but Makita is top dog for carpenters always has been. They make the best saws in the game,have the best ergonomics, best repair service,best and cheapest quality spare parts, and have the bestmost reliable batteries with voltage protection. When the new 18v gasless framing nailer becomes available to purchase to the public only thing lacking is a battery inverter that can use individual batteries 18 and 40v.

@@mikek2258agreed with the saws. Lack of a framing nailer for so long undercuts your point though. Ya, ya, later this year, yadda yadda. Hopefully it’s a banger.

@powderdescent been a long time waiting i know lol. Been reviews on the gun already, n it looks like the goods. It's been released in America, so should get a few coming through this yr to aus n nz. The lack of backwards compatability with xgt to LXT is the only problem, i cant see a solution to that problem ever happening though. Other than that its team teal superiority. The regular availability of cheap parts and most repairable tools in the industry is a big tick and not taken into consideration enough imo Compared to most of the others are deemed to hard or not worth fixing resulting in throw away items

The Framing nailer HAS NOT been released in the US. A sample of the Non American model has been shown at events. It won't be released for a few more months yet.
