He played the game hard but fair, a true sportsman! I am a proud Kiwi but grew up in Cairns Nth QLD. Watching big Mel Meninga play as a youngster was bitter sweet, to me he represented both hero and villain. Hero when he played for the Raiders and Queensland. The other when he lined up against the Kiwis. But definitely one of the greatest to play the greatest code. Respect to you Mel, thanks for the memories big fella

Mal was and is the greatest never appreciated him whilst he was playing as he was a Queenslander n played for Canberra but he was and is THE GREATEST PLAYER in history both on and off the field
