Malahide Memories 4 - The Cinema in Malahide

Eddie Nugent remembers The Grand Cinema in Malahide Village and Masie Walsh who ran it. Eddie then became a projectionist in the cinema during the 1960s. It sadly shut down in the 1970s and the building was torn down to be redeveloped.

I remember Malahide well. I remember Pop,s cinima a on the green, and Mrs Walsh n had the cinima on Main Street. I went to school behind the church, two classes Mr Joice ( I hope I spelt his name right) he was very strick and punished the lads if they were playing up. I used to love going down to the high rock for a swim My Mums brother used to have a building business down near the railway bridge Vinnie Bissett My cousins still live in Malahide, I loved that little town, and I have some fond memory,s of Malahide. To day I live in Upwell Norfolk and write songs. Thank you for your lovely vidios of Malahide. God Bless Des

i remember being in the projectionists room in Masie's with Eddie / the carbon rods provided the 'light' and when the film broke all hell would break out while it was being spliced!
