Awesome stuff Lads. No stupid music, no Ralph Fiennes' annoying, overdramatic voice, no clashing of cymbals and banging of ridiculous drums. Just the sounds of nature and natural occurrences - just as it should be. Well done boys - you blew 'Savage Kingdom' out of the water!

Only one brave lioness out of 15 who wouldn't give up the buffalo. For all the hard work of the lioness, the male gets the first rights to the kill! The buffaloes wouldn't let go of their dead either. Awesome video

Unparalleled & legendary, positioned right at the centre of it all. A vast assembly of buffalo confronts the Kambula pride in a life-or-death clash. The raw strength & ferocity are showcased when the Kambula lioness wraps her grip around the nose of a buffalo & overpowers it bringing him to the ground. Mastery comes with the practice for the young Kambula pride members. Even though the group sought to aid a fellow member of the herd, they became entangled in a back-and-forth battle with the lions. Thank you, MalaMala, for capturing these incredible wild moments❤

First- albeit the whole pride is there, the that KAMBULA MOM lioness pretty much single handedly caught and held on and brought the cow down. Unlike the rest of the pride members she undaunted held on and did not loose the grip in number of occasions when all run and the other buffalos tried to horn her into the air. She did not let go until the cow was sure to be taken down beyond repair and even then was the last to move away. Second, watching the other buffalos lick then fallen family member and the obvious sadness and concern is hearth wrenching. Sooo much respect for these beautiful beings who many think I worth trophy hunting- these buffalo certainly care about their family more than the trophy families care for eachother. Third, the vehicle surrounded by buffs and lions in all this?! Don’t mean to be negative but that seriously does not look too clever to me. Fourth - ironically the 2/4 now Quarta Kambula males are the brothers of the lionesses and the half older brothers of the mini KambulaShwakas - what goes around comes around and so sad the family lost their meal to now estranged grown up brothers especially that lioness mom who so formidably brought the cow down.

I really love lions and really respect these wonderful creatures even more than most people... Imagine how some people make money and how much they lie for their daily life, how much they cheat and flatter and yet their greed is endless. But the lions have to fight every week to survive with the same natural tools they have like their teeth and claws and risk to death to eat only a meal... I think they are very innocent and simple compared to us❤ we are wild creatures In fact

The guide said it correctly that this was the best interaction that he has ever seen. It is undoubtedly the best EVER I’ve watched . You could feel the 🐃 🐃’s pain & anguish for their fallen comrade, as well as the lions fight for survival. What an amazing battle to witness. The lionesses & their young dealt the death of the buffalo and then here come the 2 Kings to reap the benefits . Then again without those two defending the territory they risk losing their young to other marauding males. I guess that’s the trade off they must endure. Amazing footage. Keep um coming as that was the best ever.

The alpha female that mostly took down the Buffalo on her own and also took a bit of a hit from the other bull that came to rescue did finish the job at the end. It was a great concerted effort by the entire pride. After the Styx males took over the carcass did the pride get to eat at all? Please advise?

Hi MM. That clip was so very good, but it was also ever so intense as well. I don't suppose the large Kambula pride was expecting the young Styx male to try and encroach in on their own hard fought meal, then only to be chased off by two older Kambula males who must have been drawn into the area by the sound of all the noise at the kill and the sound of some of the members of the pride chasing of the young Styx male. Were they? All that palava was very interesting to see and watch. It's obvious that the lions and the big and dangerous buffalo are long time age old enemies with each other too. With the two bigger Kambula males just running in on the kill and the comoation, and as they both weigh in excess of four hundred pounds together, the pride and the adult lionesses all probably wouldn't have stood a chance of keeping the kill that they had hoped would last them a couple of days or so. I expect some people may have thought the two large boys were the Ndhzenga males, but that clearly wasn't the case at all. If they lost their buffalo kill, then I wonder if the pride might well have been very successful again during that very evening when it was completely dark. Thankfully, the only casualty was a buffalo being killed by them. It was the first time that you'd seen two of the four Kambula males there for quite a while, but even if they weren't looking for a kill to scavenge, I bet their presence was enough to just scare everyone out of the area. It was a bit like a game known as grandmother's footsteps, as the two age-old enemies were all chasing each other backwards and forwards for so much of the time. The pride didn't keep their buffalo kill for very long, as I think that two of the four Kambula males just ran on and took it of them. But despite all that palava, I'm even more glad that there were not any lion casualties at all. It was so interesting watching the battle commence between the big cats and the herd of powerfully dangerous bovines. I think it went on for quite a while before the battle had a winner. But whilst it seemed that one lioness had pretty much unintentionally drawn the herd away from the other lions, it soon became clear why she was just trotting into the thickets, as she and some of her pride members had all found and cornered the young Styx male and it looked like they were trying to chase him out of their area altogether. But on the whole, it was so good to see and watch that drama. Hope to hear from you shortly. Robert 24.10.24

Excellent video. Other than hyenas and wild dogs, I doubt other animals realise the strength of numbers. If the buff herd worked together, they could easily drive off the lions. And if the lion pride acted as one unit, they might drive off the two males. The males were out-numbered 2 to 13, although there were juveniles in the pride. However, it seems to me that even in a group, individual animals fear being hurt...unlike hyenas.
@hotbit7327

I doubt humans truly realise the strength of numbers. If humans worked together, they could easily colonize Mars. I've experienced human egoism, cowardice, and self-preservation, very much the same as it goes with the buffalos. If I understand properly, two young males were raised in this pride. Do you really think they don't know their mothers and aunts? Would you forget your mother if she would raise you up to 15+? Surely they know each other quite well.

You brought back a very old memory .. many years ago I ran game lodges in the moremi and I remeber a ranger telling us a story one night … we had no tourists in it was off season.mthis ranger was saying he had a very arrogant group of tourist on the back of his vehicle. Anyway they saw a male lion take down a buffalo alone and seemly it was all very impressive and he was taking loads of pics because he knew no one would belief him. The tourist turned round and said can we go know, I’ve seen lion and I’ve seen buffalo what next . The names of the tourists went round as bush telegraph does

The males dominate/lead the pride. As such, the two males eat first, and then its everyone elses turn. Theres a pecking order

Very unsportsmanlike for the buffalo to persist after the game was over.

This is where a large male lion would shine maybe even leading to second kill, but with 80% of the pride youngsters its just a chaotic cat and mouse game

Really enjoyed video. What took the Buffalo heard so bloody long to come to the resue?!?! I was expecting calvary to arrive much sooner. Oh well. Lions have to eat too.

Experienced cats smother the buff prey immediately its taken down to 'silence' it so as not to raise a distress call for others to come save it and thats exactly what the male here is doing. The cats sre dangerously outnumbered but still stand the threat and goes on to win a meal,awesome.
