Once upon a time, we Malays lived in kampungs surrounded by nature. Paddy fields, rubber trees, rivers and chickens and cows. Hence the Raya decorations.

The ones with Malay kampung houses have cars to showcase ‘Balik Kampung’. The yearly travel home for raya for those who work & study far from their kampung. Thank you for showing us the malls raya decorations especially to those of us who are out of KL.

When u celebrate Christmas its almost a same decoration all over the world.. Normally With santa hat and christmas tree, even malaysia is a hot country to wear santa hat and don't have thats kind of tree hehehe. But in eid, all decorations is depend on what country or culture u from..
@DisappearforDays8 ай бұрын
We loved the variety of decorations and how some went for more old school, and others more glamorous! I think as we have more of a connection generally being from England with Christmas, that the Christmas decorations topped it for us! ☺️

Thanks for watching! Which mall was your favourite? Do you agree with our decision? 😊 Also, do you think were better, the Christmas or Raya decorations in all the malls? We'd love to hear all of your ideas! ❤

The Raya decorations at TRX seemed to be the best in KL. Somehow, the Xmas decorations looked more festive. Have you guys found a place to celebrate Raya tomorrow.

We too as a Malaysian, especially the Muslims, have the same thought as you do. Pavillion & Suria KLCC just didn’t put much effort for Raya decorations as they did for Christmas & CNY; not only this year but it happened every year… And yes. Suria KLCC recycle the outside decorations…
@DisappearforDays8 ай бұрын
I thought we recognized the outside decoration from KLCC! I wonder why they don't seem to put as much effort in? The decorations look good, but a lot more modest. That's not a bad thing necessarily though!

I truly feel that the Raya decorations in KL don't bring up enough vibes to uplift the true spirits of Raya in Malaysia. They are beautiful, but somehow ... It's like the display decorators are running out of ideas for Raya decorations.

Baskin Robbins ice creams, that's probably one of my best memories living in Mumbai. The BR is quite cheap in Mumbai, so affordable that I had few tubes every month. It's almost half the price than what you pay in KL.
@DisappearforDays8 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching Yasin! We don't know whether we just have more of a familiarity with Christmas decorations, or whether they were generally just more over the top. The Raya ones were great, but just didn't add as much spark in some ways, happy for anyone to disagree with us though 😅

Raya decoration; its a time travel experience to the decade pre-urbanisation. Remember, during the British colonization, the British conveniently and successfully split and conquer, thus creating subtle segregation within the community. Chinese settled in but were not limited to town area, the Malays were left undisturbed in the kampung purposely and Indians were the inhabitants of rubber estates. British conveniently predestined the society's fate that still exist now. Friction and distrust among race in Malaysia, is a sickening gift from our imperial master. We got our independence 1957 but for every 1 ringgit, 0.70 goes to Westminster; in 1985 finally, we become free when our leaders bought all Malaysia assets from the UK. Raya, is a celebration; we overcome temptations and greed, we observe the beauty in sharing and we understand pain through empathy. Raya is time to reflect, let us all be proud of our achievement, humanity and unity. We are our best self when we move forward as ONE. Happy Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin. (forgive me inside out) ; literally LOL Free Free Palestine!
