Most people in Brunei tend to easily understand languages spoken by Malaysia and Indonesia due to the fact we love watching Malaysia and Indonesia TV Program. Most Malaysian would confuse our language as Sabah dialect tho. It does sounds similar to Sabah but Brunei has much softer tone. Nevertheless, we all love malay language regardless we are from Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. So yeah, peace out and spread the love. 😊

Contoh: banyak banget (banyak sekali), ngapain sih (sedang apa), enggak kepingin/pengen (tidak mau), samperin/temuin dia aja (temui saja dia). So bahasa formal dengan bahasa keseharian orang2 indonesia sangat jauh perbedaannya.

You said Bruneians are not fluent in English. Brunei was a British Protectorate once. Their English is somewhat better than Malaysians. And the Bahasa Melayu in Brunei is also written in Jawi. Come and visit Brunei one day and you'll see the signboards are in Malay, both Jawi and Rumi (Roman script). Even a Chinese coffeeshop have their name translated in Malay. Buat apa bertengkar ? Toh klo orang luar semua tetap mengganggap kita malaysia, brunai dan indonesia adalah malay race. Sedangkan pemimpin filipina aja tetap mengakui mereka termasuk malay race apalagi kita yg memang pengamal bahasa melayu...

Bukan ngurusin bhs daerah. Dalam bhs melayu indonesia memang terdapat beberapa serapan yg berbeda krn dijajah belanda seperti ucapan tulen, bioskop dll. SILAKAN MARAH SAMA CEWEK INI KALAU DIA BILANG BAHASA JAWA BERASAL DARI BAHASA MELAYU. TAPI KLO DISEBUT BAHASA INDONESIA BERASAL DARI BAHASA MELAYU ITU MEMANG FAKTA. small funfact, in indonesia, bahasa jawa is almost completely different with bahasa indonesia, and some of our javanese relative were brought by dutch to suriname long time ago. This resulting minority descendant of javanese-surinamese people can understand javanese-indonesian by talking with javanese language only. There is no way that they can communicate with each other by using indonesian/dutch language. there is some small cases where javanese-surinamese married javanese-indonesian and they talk with each other using javanese language daily

@zaraarisa5127 жыл бұрын

Piliphine byk yg terasimilasi dgn spanyol dan US (no offence).

English is used more widely in Brunei than Malaysia though. Most Malaysians speak a more "Singlish" sort of English while Bruneians have acquired their English from a British education system.

I perfectly agree with that. Malaysians speak a variety of English that can sometimes be challenging to understand. They pronounce a lot of English words way differently if you're accustomed to American or British English. But it becomes highly intelligible once you get used to it.

You can say that Singaporean Malays speak in bhs melayu just like our neighbour, Malaysia, but when it comes to oral examination, we need to speak in bhs baku. I didn't understand the need to speaking in bhs baku but I think it's more of knowing its existence otherwise it might get extinct in Singapore.
@gundam45967 жыл бұрын
baku derives from ba=bahasa ku=buku. that meaning language of book. it is like what you read is what you pronounce. it was implemented in Malaysia education during 1980s but not lasting because of the language culture. It is one of the step to integrate and minimise the difference between all Malay language in SEA because the indonesian language is a baku.

Malaysia dengan budaya mereka sendiri, Indonesia dengan budaya kita sendiri. Meski akar budaya dan bahasa kita memang dari melayu, tapi come on, setelah kemerdekaan kita memiliki tata bahasa serta perkembangan bahasa yang semakin majemuk di masing-masing negara. lebih baik fokus memperbaiki diri sendiri, negara kita masing-masing, sama-sama menjadi negara yang maju. I worked with many Malaysian & Singaporean, they're really nice, they're respecting Indonesian, so we have to do the same, keeping the good relationship with each other. di dunia yang dewasa ini sepatutnya pun mendewasakan pola pikir kita. salam damai

If I were to compare how Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia sound like to me, I would say Bahasa Malaysia is like London's English whereas Bahasa Indonesia is more like English spoken by the northern English people - Newcastle, Cumbria etc. Most of the words of these 2 languages are the same, hence making it easier for a fluent Bahasa Malaysia speaker like myself to understand Bahasa Indonesia but only if the Bahasa Indonesia speaker slows down a little bit. I believe the reverse is also true but I need a Bahasa Indonesia native speaker to confirm this.

Bahasa Melayu, the national language of Malaysia is still very genuine and pure. We hardly see any foreign language words are being used in Bahasa Melayu. While most article or writing in Bahasa Indonesia, has massive foreign language words being used, especially words from English language, while there are words with same meaning in Indonesia language that can be used. Such articles with massive foreign words had been use are corrupted. It's shameful that Indonesians have compromise the image of their language taking words from other languages. They seem don't realise, but if the government do not make it right, soon the original words in Bahasa Indonesia will be gone. Malaysian are pride of Bahasa Melayu because the originality of the language is preserved. Actually, all these countries with Malaysia calling it Bahasa Melayu, Brunei as Bahasa Brunei and Indonesia as Bahasa Indonesia, could be collectively named as Bahasa Melayu, the language widely speaks since the ancient times of Malay Archipelago, comprises of the territory of Peninsula Malaysia, Borneo Islands (now Sabah, Serawak, Brunei and Kalimantan), Islands of Indonesia, Philippines, Siam (now Thailand) and Indo China.
@mohamadhafidal-ahyar22536 жыл бұрын
So what ? We don't care if our language is not pure 😂😂😂 Shameful ? Why ? We don't use bahasa indonesia to preserve the purity of bahasa melayu lol We use bahasa indonesia to unite our people and this language will grow by time passing. Isn't it sameful that many of non-melayu in malaysia don't speak bahasa melayu ? Some don't even understand it, do they ? Isn't it a shameful fact for a "melayu-based" state that some of their own citizend don't even speak their own language ? While on the other hand 99% of indonesian do speak bahasa indonesia If I were a malaysian I would think twice before writing such comment lol
