Its like how Hal without Lois is a phenomenal engineer but spirals super quickly into destructive bad habits. According to Hal & Lois, the boys need an assertive woman to keep them in check because they dont think of the future beyond 5 minutes and its their better half's job to ensure that future comes to pass.

I have a theory that Craig, lacking a mother figure in his life, pursues Lois because she embodies all the things he missed out on as a child. In many episodes, he's shown to be very intelligent (and a surprisingly good athlete) but stays in his department store job to keep tabs on Lois, hoping, praying that one day, she leaves Hal.

I really like the subtle detail that Lois' idea of a perfect date is just going to town on really good food, no talking just pure devouring, while Craig's idea of his perfect date involves Lois being graceful and slow and romantic, all the things she doesn't want to force with her husband let alone Craig.
